November in Pittsburgh

Have I mentioned that not only did we move to Pittsburgh but that I live RIGHT NEXT TO A MASSIVE PARK FULL OF STICKS, BUNNIES, AND DEER?  No?  Well it’s true.
I’m sadly not allowed to chase ’em – the creatures and critters – I know it’s for my own good.  So I shall comfort myself with piles and piles of sticks.  And pose majestically.

Stickebana

I am a creative sort.  A dreamer.  A dog who revels in the natural world, the seasons, and sticks at every opportunity.  Luckily mama understands my nature and encourages me to constantly improve my stick-arranging-talent.  So each day, we leave our apartment with two or three sticks to start.
Sometimes I add to the arrangement, other times I leave a sub-standard stick behind.  But I always aim for an artful carry of my sticks in what I’m calling “Stickebana”.  See how I clearly have 3 sticks in my mouth, yet you can only see 2 sticking out on one side?

THAT’S (my) ART, KIDS.

Auld Lang Sticks

Out with the old, in with the new (sticks, that is).

I've spent the last few months collecting all of these tasty sticks, and alas with no fireplace or other repository for them I found myself collecting them in a big pile just outside of my door.  Which must go.

Ah well, cleaning out 2014 (which was a pretty tough year) to make way for 2015 (which had better be a fantastic year).

Happy 2015, all!

Grab the World by the Stick

You spin me right round, baby right round...

In your quest to make me move along during the morning walkie, you have foolishly fallen into my trap of CUTENESS.

Nice try mama, but you are out of your league here.

I will turn up my charm to 11 if necessary.

Are you sure that your heart can take all of this?

Yeah, I know.  It's not fair.  But I won't hurt ya mama.  Just turn it up enough to get my way.

Mission Accomplished.

Stay Stick-y, My Friends

Sticks are life. And life is all about sticks.

I'm busy livin', which is why I haven't been doing much updatin'. That's going to change. Gonna get mama to do more regular posting for my friends all over the world. But in the meantime...

There are sticks. Lots of 'em. With our current weather here in Philadelphia (stormy and windy) I am here to take full advantage of the stick-storm. I like to find 'em, grab 'em, carry 'em, and yes, sometimes eat 'em.

The beauty of this advanced stickwork (don't try this at home, puppies, this is a DOG'S work) is how BADASS you look walking down the street. 3 sticks in your mouth, carried at a jaunty angle, almost like a cats whiskers. It says, Look out world, HERE I AM.

It also says, HERE I COME - which implies GET OUT OF MY WAY.

Not in a bad way, you understand, just letting folks know that a VIP is coming down the street and they need to make way. Most people are smart and quick enough to understand. Sometimes I have to bust out the cute expressions.

I know that the human heart isn't really prepared to handle the levels of cuteness that I can bring with just a look and a stick. I do have compassion for you. I will just lay here and give you a moment to calm down. You know, for your health and safety.

Oh and don't get me started on if I'm wearing a sweater and carrying sticks. HEARTS EXPLODE

Duck for Dinner

Some days you've just gotta take the wheel.

When your mama isn't walking fast enough, and you smell something important, GRAB THE WHEEL

And if you see geese - GO GET 'EM

Geese are tasty.  Their poop is wonderful.  You probably won't catch 'em, but it's worth a shot.

We can't win 'em all, or catch all of the tasty birds that fly tantalizingly in front of us.  Sometimes you have to improvise.

Come closer, my goose and duck friends.  I'M NOT GONNA HURT YOU (ok, I plan to eat you)

No need to go home empty-handed.  I wasn't in the mood for fowl anyway.

Tasty and satisfying.  And it doesn't try to fly away while I am chomping.  Kind of wonderful.

Don't anybody try to muscle in on my stick territory - I worked HARD for that fine stick, it's MINE!

Non Blizz-aire-d

Geez. The humans were so upset about a storm that was supposed to dump feet of snow here in Philadelphia - um, no.

The winds, did however bring down a LOT of tasty sticks. For which I am grateful.

Stick after stick after stick, getting in my jumping practice as well as perfectly my eagle eye.

Nothing can break my laser-like focus, the direct trajectory that I calculate from the ground up to that tasty stick.

Heading directly for it, grasping it in my mighty jaws, nothing else exists...

Well, HELLO BEAUTIFUL

Jaunty Shadow Dancer

Mama is obsessed with my shadow.  Obsessed, I tell ya!

When we happen to be out at just the right time, with just the right light, she goes nuts.  Picture upon picture upon picture.  She's a little bit crazy (perhaps you already noticed that), but I do indulge her from time to time.  Today is not going to be one of those times.

I am a man on a mission - wielding my trusty sticks (of which I have gathered several of the best specimens in my mighty jaws) and heading for my park.

Are you gonna just stand there, or are you going to come along mama?

You basically have one final shot at this before I commence chomping.  So make it good.

CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP

Mmm... STICKS.

This Newfangled Banking Thing

Normally I do not concern myself with WHERE the money comes from, only that we have enough for my chow, kitty treats, and whatever it is that mama eats.  But today we had to stop at this oddly-air-conditioned small room called an ATM:

The machine desperately wanted to help me, trying to talk to me in it's strange, beep-like language.  I looked to mama for advice or translation, she fed it a small piece of plastic, and it shut up.  Cool!

Out came cash for her, and I found a nifty stick - I like this banking thing.  Except for the incessant beeping.  But the money part and the stick part are ok with me.

Especially the stick part.  Haven't found any really juicy sticks for awhile, so I suppose I am a little out of practice on my stickwork.

But I can make up for that rather quickly, mama, if you just bring that stick down a tiny bit...

Just a little more...

EXCELLENT

Oh it's tasty alright, with all of the goodness that our neighborhood provides.

You want a piece?

What if I turn it this way?

Still sure?

I mean, if you can grab it then we can share.  Not that I will make it easy for you to grab it, being that we are all so out of shape and all, but hey, I'm willing to give it a whirl...

Okie-dokie, I'll hold it for ya.  No problemo.  I still have some pooping to do...
