BBQ

Dad has spent the last two days over at our friend KC's house. I got to go along so no worries there, but I did wonder what he was up to. Spending so much time together, they spent hours in the kitchen arguing and tasting and arguing some more. What could it be?

This is DeeDee. Remember her? She is the sister of Fritz who passed away. She's had Parvo not once but twice, and the kind of mange that is spread from mama to babies. She's had it pretty tough. But now she's got a clean bill of health (yes, she's a STRONG girl!) so we thought we'd get in a little stick action while the humans had us locked outside.

Uh, it's MY stick, I don't care how cute that Boxer face is... so what exactly ARE the humans doing?

BARBECUE!!!! Ohmydog, look at that plate full of yummy meat. I could be a very good dog if you'd give me some of that...

Yummo yummo yummo. Southern barbecue. Spare ribs, chicken, pulled pork... heck, even the beans and potato salad look good. Can I have some dad, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze?

Fine. I understand that we're in front of other people. You can't be seen giving food off of your plate to the dog. It's ok. I'm just going to look off into the other direction, pretending not to notice anything, and if a piece or two just happen to fall onto the ground be rest assured that I'll take care of that for ya quickly so no one sees...

Mm mm good. Full tummy. Time to pretend to exercise.

Yeah sure... exercise. I'm just gonna sit here guarding my ball in case DeeDee gets any funny ideas...

Isn't she so cute? I think this is the first clear-ish photo that mama has ever taken of her. She's always so wiggly!

Until we barbecue again...

King of the Burger

Dad has continued on the treat-making, working on things, fixing other things, coming up with new and brilliant ideas for treats, and one of the more recent ones has been to make BURGERS. They're meat mixed with veggies and then dehydrated. I approve wholeheartedly...

Ain't too proud to beg...

Hey, there's still MORE OF THAT BURGER...

Action shot! I'm lunging full-Dale-speed at mom to get at that burger... mere seconds later and it was MINE...

Yummo yummo.

I don't think I've mentioned the news about my Boxer baby buddies because it was really, really sad... but little Fritz passed away a little while ago and his sister DeeDee has been really sick. They both had Parvo - not once but TWICE - and mange because of their irresponsible breeder. Since Fritz has passed away DeeDee has been lonely and wasn't eating much, so dad and I stepped in to make her some big dehydrated burgers...

There's beef heart, turkey, and fish and rice burgers in there. A nice care package for a pretty girl!

So mom and I jumped into the Bogiemobile for our Meals on Wheels delivery to Miss DeeDee! I couldn't visit with her because her immune system is still pretty weak, so I wait in the car.

After all of that hard work, mom thought we deserved some lunch. We hadn't visited the Angelique Cafe for awhile, so off we drove in search of some good French sandwiches.

But there was a problem. As cute as I look here, I wasn't able to help with the godawful service that we received. Now mom, dad, and I have been here many times before and the food is always good and the service is always nice. But today was another story... We sat at a table and got our menus. Then instead of the waitress taking our drinks order she ran away! Someone else threw a tiny basket of bread on our table as they ran by (it wasn't THAT busy) but no one would acknowledge us. Weird. Other folks at a few tables were having the same problem so we knew it wasn't just us, but still... Finally we got to order food. And wait. And wait. And wait some more.

Nope, she's not coming.

Not that way, either.

The waitress brought food to a neighboring table of people who had arrived long after we did. Then when we were starting to think about leaving, she came by and asked to confirm what we ordered! So they DID forget about us. Finally the food came and mom's sandwich was ok but her fries (my favorite part of her lunch) were COLD! Oh, the travesty! So she sent them back but even then she couldn't get our waitress' attention, and she picked up her plate to show to another person who worked there that they were cold. And do you know what that person did? She put her finger in them!!! Right into the french fries!!!

Cafe Angelique

So I did what any self-respecting Airedale would do: I stretched out my paws to trip her as she walked by.

Jerky on the Road

Remember Fritz and DeeDee? Those crazy Boxer babies are growing fast... and dad brought over some of our latest jerky - beef heart jerky - for them to sample. I wasn't there as I was out with mom for a little walk, but luckily there were at least a few pictures taken of their cuteness...

DeeDee got jerky for jerky! Check out those ears... she is the tan-colored Boxer, Fritz is the brindle-y brown one.

Aren't they adorable???? Eating lots of jerky exhausts the little ones.

The jerky was a HIT, and Fritz even stole the bag out of dad's pocket to get more. I wish I could have been there, but I got some jerky from mom when I got home so no complaints...

RIP Heidi

Today Heidi - my best Boxer friend and pawsonal trainer - went to the great pawsonal training facility in the sky. We're all very sad - she was only 2 years old - but happy that she's not in pain and that she didn't suffer for a long time with the cancer.

So if ya see a new Boxer-shaped star in the sky tonight, say hi to Heidi for me.

The Boxers and Me

Ok, you may need to look away - it's like looking at the surface of the sun at noon in the middle of summer - behold, the Boxer Babies and Heidi cuteness in their first (probably of many) videos:

Overwhelming Boxer Cuteness

A day chock-full of Boxer-y goodness... today I got to see my girl Heidi and the two new Boxer pups that will be sharing her house... they are way too cute for words. They have a funny smell (mom calls it "new puppy smell" and apparently I stunk like this too when I was a baby) but I found them interesting. I was trying to play with Heidi but she didn't feel like playing today - she was very tired and just wanted to rest on her couch.

This is Dee-Dee, the girl pup. She looks a LOT like her Aunt Heidi... she has on the pink harness in the photos (cause, well, she's a GIRL)

This is Fritz, the boy (notice the BLUE harness)... he has really cool stripes and white mittens on his paws...

Heidi seems tired but happy. She wagged her sweet little stump when I came in, and I was really happy to see her. I was a little confused as to why she didn't want to run outside with me, but I could tell that she wasn't feeling that well so it was ok.

Aren't the little ones adorable? Mom took some video, she's going to put that together soon - it's even cuter if that's possible...
