Bogart and Bogart

Humphrey Bogart

Today is the 50th anniversary of the death of Humphrey Bogart.

Bogart

I can see the resemblance... and tell why mom and dad named me after him. We're both pretty debonair, both popular with the ladies, and both still real "men's men".

Makes sense to me!

Cheeseburger for Chloe

I was sad to get news yesterday that Chloe, an Airedale Terrier, went to doggie heaven this week... her dad wrote to me that I made him smile so I was due a cheeseburger.

Okie dokie!

Off we go to Rally's - at first I was unaware of where we were going, but as we pulled into the parking lot I felt sure that this was going to be my "Chloe Burger"! And yes, a burger was indeed forthcoming mom explained, that I was going to get in honor of Chloe.

First dad tried to get me to make a "toast" to Chloe using his jumbo lemonade. I was a bit confused, but did my best to follow tradition.

Then it was burger time...

Mmm, mmm, mmm.

I just want Chloe's dad to know that all of us here feel really sorry for your loss of beautiful Chloe, that she's waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for you, and hope that you are okay during this difficult time... I'm sorry I never got to know Chloe!

Where's Heidi?

Dad and I have been going over almost every day to Heidi's house... and she ISN'T THERE! I look around and around and around and haven't found her.

I have done major toy redistribution and reassignment and still NO HEIDI.

Dad said something about Heidi and her dad and mom going to Florida for a month or so... why would they do that? I mean, without telling me and allowing me to adequately prepare for her absence?

Really mom and dad, DO YOU WANT ME TO GET FLABBY without my pawsonal trainer???

Sheesh.

New Years Resolutions

Yes I know I’m a bit late to the party with this, having been tagged by my dreamgirl Sunshade awhile ago, but hey, most humans have already broken their resolutions by now!

1. I resolve to post much more regularly than I have been doing lately. No excuse from mom will be tolerated any more. It just not fair to my public to deny them my cute-ness for extended periods of time.

2. I will - reluctantly, mind you - work on my, ahem, humping issues. And I will work on this problem by NOT working on it, if you know what I mean. Still having my manhood makes this difficult (ok, it makes it damn near impossible), but I will try.

3. I promise to eat less of the cats food and more of the food that appears in my own bowl, no matter how unappetizing it may seem.

4. I will work on resetting my internal clock a tiny little bit so that I don’t wake mom up at 5:45 am when she doesn’t have to be up until 7 am. Now I kind of free-wheel it - whenever I wake up and have “the urge” to either go outside to pee or (usually) just because I feel like it I head into the bedroom to wake mom up with a big sloppy kiss. I think the kiss part is still ok, I’ve just noticed that she’s somewhat happier when I wake her up and it’s light outside.

5. I want to get a gopher. Badly. A live one, not the usual dead ones that I pull out of their holes after - ahem - “expanding” the holes a bit. I will focus my mental energy so that I can bag one. Here’s a bit of video of me working on my latest resolution…

I suppose that I can’t do a lot of taggin’ because pretty much everybody else has already been tagged, so I’ll just say GOOD LUCK everybody on those resolutions!

He's Back!!!!

Wow, almost a WHOLE WEEK with no one taking pictures of me... that was surreal.

Believe it or not, mom finally found the camera card and guess where it was? It had fallen behind the overflowing laundry basket (I told you mom.... if you'd just let me get those extra panties and socks out of the way sooner you would have found it!!!). So I'm back in business...

First order of the day - taking care of the yard at Kehoe Mountain. Heidi and her humans are back in Florida for awhile, so dad and I are in charge of taking care of the yard while they're gone.

Dad does most of the watering, I do most of the toy relocation.

Today we had a nice lunch walking around The Grove - that's an outdoor mall here in Los Angeles - and it was the first time that dad experienced the frenzy that develops every time I go out in public wearing my Doggles. I think even he was impressed. We walked through the street and of course everyone was either smiling, taking a cell phone picture, giggling, or pointing at ME. I'm used to it by now, but it was new for dad. Mom has already seen it all and so she just helped to direct our little party over toward Johnny Rockets for some lunch.

Lunch was yummy but then it was time to walk through the street again which of course was even more fun... by now I was pretty sick of the Doggles and I've found that a very effective method of removing them from my eyes (but not from my head, damnit) is to wiggle my head between mom's knees - works pretty well except once she caught onto me. So I tried it with random strangers - with conflicting results.

After all that fun we had to refill the gas tank on the Bogie-mobile, so I allowed mom to take care of that while I got into the drivers seat, ready to drive us home.

Mom thought that was pretty funny but hey, I was SERIOUS.

Mom also finally got around to snapping some photos of me in the Bogie-Beetle with my new Airedale Taxi sign (from my dreamgirl, Sunshade) - I think it's appropriate!

It's good to be back...

Love,

Bogart

Forget-full

Well 2007 started off with a BANG for me last night... at exactly 12:00 mom and I were watching the ball drop on TV and then B-O-O-M - the shooting started. Yes folks, here in Los Angeles people actually shoot guns into the air to celebrate stuff. I was only starting to get my head around the idea that humans are stupid enough to play with those nasty fireworks-things and now this. Luckily mom had anticipated this, and took me out for my last peepee walk at about 11:45. And even more oddly - the shooting was one of the only things that the folks here in Los Angeles do on time.

So of course mom wanted to take some photos of me in front of the television - watching that giant shiny ball slowly move down toward Times Square, but NO - guess what the excuse is now? Somehow - IN THE HOUSE - mom has managed to lose the memory card for the camera. And somehow - AGAIN - the camera's internal memory has started to malfunction so that it can only be usable with the memory card. That she lost. In the house. Did I mention we live in a small apartment? That she somehow lost it within a room or two? Hopefully she'll remedy this little situation soon... it will be worth her while of course, I won't force her to sit at the computer creating these lovely Photoshops - which will free up some time for her to work on some memory exercises.

Silly mom.

In the meanwhile, I had mom put together this picture - sort of a "dream date" as it were - of me and Miss Sunshade together in Times Square for New Years Eve 2007... no, I have no idea why she chose this particular photo with the funny hats and the funny 2007 glasses on the people, ahem, I mean on us...

Aire Treats

You know, I never noticed this before... not only is there a suspiciously-Airedale-looking terrier on the box of Nutro treats but each one has an Airedale profile stamped into it!

Mmmmmm.....

And look how well-trained I have gotten mom - all I have to do is put on "the face" and she first opens the box for me then a little extra eye action and she reaches in to get me a treat. Goooooooooooood Mom.

Christmas... Finally!!!

Ah, Christmas finally is here and I can tear into the packages under the tree... magically, several more appeared than before so I was happy to help get those open as well (especially the ones for the cats... their treats are always tastier than my own).

I got three major presents... Doggles, a heart-shaped pillow, and a very large bone that mom couldn't capture me eating - yes, eating - because so much of it was already consumed by the time that the camera was up and running. And yes, I did "test out" the pillow for it's hump-ability... and it's a little too short for any serious humping. Tossing around in the air - perfect.

While I think I look incredibly spiffy in my new Doggles I think I already hate them. Since I've never liked things on my head, these are especially annoying. They go around my head, under my ears, and under my chin. A triple whammy.

The cats all got their own heart-shaped pillows too and a few new beds - and the most incredible salmon treats I've ever tasted. I didn't care so much for the catnip treats (what do cats see in that stuff anyway?) but the salmon... mmm, mmm, mmm. Yummy.

Not long after all of the presents were opened and somewhat consumed, mom and dad had to leave... now, being left at home to "relax a bit" is one of my very least favorite things in all the world. I couldn't understand why they were leaving me behind. So what if there are parties to go to, they don't allow dogs??? What is this world coming to...

It turns out that they first went over to Mareike's house to bring some human cookies & some doggie treats to my 3 favorite Airedales - Robin, Kermit, & Jupie!!! I knew they went to visit my buddies because mom came home smelling like them - all over! So at least I can take some comfort in the fact that my Aire-pals took good care of mom when I wasn't there - face licking, jumping, you know, all the important stuff.

Then they went to a party in Hollywood - they came home looking so happy that even as I was angry at being left home alone for soooooo long I just had to forgive them. Their silly, stupid faces do make me melt sometimes. So I brought over my leash for dad, we had a quick late-night peepee, then it was off to doggie dreamland.

I really think I like this Christmas-thing...

Profiles in Aire-age

Mom made this cool video of me - it's a study of my profile, basically - and while it was much lighter on her computer before she loaded it onto YouTube you can still get the idea - you might want to turn off the background music (just below my chatty-box on the left side) for maximum enjoyment...
