I Can Make You a Man

Today's food-ical interlude, courtesy of chef dad - welcome to Chez Bogart:

Start with only the best fresh ingredients...

I like my carrots GRATED, not sliced...

Add some water to the pot with the carrots... simmer while moving on to the good stuff...

Slice that beef tripe into small pieces...

Mmmm... Corazon (beef heart - we had to learn this because we go to a Mexican butcher)

I must sample the corazon to be sure that it's fresh and chopped to my specifications...

Looks pretty good dad...

A pat from the vegetarian... notice the foaminess beginning to develop on my mighty beard...

Add the meat to the simmering pot...

Sometimes I get a little rice, sometimes pasta. This week - rice

Mmm... liver - don't forget to chop that into little pieces!

BOGIE STEW

Smells mmm mmm good

Ah, the proverbial full bowl...

It's awfully good... I'm going to start eating while dad finishes up...

He adds a few scoops into a plastic quart-sized baggie...

Then weighs it (I usually get about 1 1/2 pounds)

And here is the finished product - a weeks worth of organ-y goodness!

Even kitties LOVE it!

Love,

Bogart

Day of the Dales

First I must say that I LOVE my pal Mareike:

She lets me give her full-on Aire hugs, and I can lick her face mercilessly and not only does she not mind, she likes it!

We shared a cheeseburger at the Good Microbrew and a lot of laughs during a long, lazy lunch on this fine Sunday afternoon...

Then it was DALE TIME!!!

As you know, Mareike has 3 Airedales and they're my BEST BUDDIES! I knew when I saw her that I was going to get to see my Dale pals, and I wasn't disappointed...

Mom also managed to catch me in some more - ahem - "adult" moments. As I am an unneutered male, sometimes I have those special, uh, urges. Mareike has three Airedales - Robin, Kermit, & Jupie - and Jupie is the only girl.

Jupie is kind of tolerant of my "special" feelings, which is awfully nice.

Robin gets right to the point - there will be no canoodling of any kind.

Kermit on the other hand was my best pal today - I was just ready to go and he let me hump him... and then I just couldn't get enough. Even though I covered his back in doggie drool while I tried to hang on long enough to get my freak on, he didn't bite me or growl (well, not much). It was like he understood that although my love might be slightly misguided, that he was my buddy and he was going to lend a helping paw. For that I say, I LOVE YOU MAN...

Fifty

I wanted to take a moment to eulogize a friend that I never got to meet - Fifty.

He belongs to a friend of my dad's and he lived in Idaho - and from what I've heard, he was quite a character. I can see it in his eyes, can't you?

I was trying to talk him into starting a blog of his own and I think he was considering it seriously - until his untimely, and all-too-soon passing.

Go forth little Fiddy - and poop all over the Wally Mart in the sky!

The Fresh Pet Experiment

Mom and I got an email from Fresh Pet asking if we'd want to try out their Deli Fresh line of foods for dogs. Hell yeah I wanna try new foods! I'm not a big aficionado of most dog food as you know, and am completely spoiled that dad makes my food for me most of the time. There are a few brands that I will tolerate as long as I get my homemade food most of the time, but I've never tried this before...

I really liked their tagline: Food for Dogs, Not Dog Food.

So today the FedEx man brought a package for me - special delivery - and I opened it immediately. Inside the green Fresh Pet bag (which I'm gonna use in the Bogie-mobile to keep doggie supplies) was two rolls of the Deli Fresh doggie food. Mmmm...

I was totally ready to eat it right from the roll. THAT'S how good it smelled. Mom let me sniff but she wouldn't let me eat it directly from the roll (despite what I've heard about humans eating cookie dough from the roll...) so I had to wait while she sliced some up for me.

'

Doesn't this look yummy? I can see all of the veggies inside...

Mmm... MY BOWL IS FULL, bring it on mom!

It went from full bowl...

To empty bowl in record time. I've gotta say that I LOVE THIS STUFF, and as a very picky eater I'd give that TWO PAWS UP!!! I'm gonna recommend that mom take this with us whenever we're out and about, it's an easy way for me to get yummy food I like anywhere!

Visit my friends at Fresh Pet, I think you'll like this food as much as I did!

Love,

Present from Lillie Valentine

Ah, the Aire-doration continues!

Lillie Valentine is a love-l-y girl Dale with a very talented mom! A package arrived for me - I'm getting kind of used to this now, and I LOVE IT - which I grabbed out of mom's hand and immediately ripped open. Smells like girl Dale, gimme gimme gimme!!!

This is so cool - it's a book that mom can use to put lots of photos of ME in it (it does say AWESOME ANIMAL on the front, so who else would she wanna feature?) - and it's made out of paper bags and LOTS of cool stuff! Mom was in awe when she saw it, in awe of the creativitiy and craftsiness that went into making it.

BIG AIRE KISSES TO LILLIE!!!!!!

This made my day - it's been sooooo hot here in Los Angeles (even hotter than usual as we're in the midst of a nasty heat wave that's causing fires, trees dying, and cranky humans all around) and even my daily walkies haven't made me a happy camper. It's too hot to go anywhere with the humans because the concrete and asphalt that they walk so carefree across burns my toesies. I do the Mexican Jumping Bean dance at least once daily as I go for my peepee time.

Hot Stick

But today I really wanted to go out for a little stick time, so we braved the hot asphalt and ran all the way to the park. Once on the dusty dirt my paws were happy and I could run a little bit. Dad threw the sticks far and I'd chase 'em all right, but at a slightly slower pace and with less gusto in the crashing-into-the-stick method of braking when I arrive at the thrown stick. Just adjusting my technique a little.

A few action shots...

And then it was time for a little rest and some major panting.

Thanks again Lillie for the lovely birthday present, I love you even more than I love this stick (and just look how dirty my tongue is - that's the universal sign of love, isn't it?)

Love,

Bogart
