I had never heard of such a thing. It arrived in a simple package, of which I noticed the distinct aroma of canine immediately. Mama could read who it was from, yet she hid this important bit of information from me.

So I'm gonna have to do an intervention.
I told mom that on Friday or Sunday (her next day off from that "work" place), we're going to go to Samy's Camera to find out what the very best batteries are for our camera. The ones that give the most bang for the buck, rechargeable if possible, that will allow for more reliable picture-taking of me. Rather than just buying whatever she saw, I'm going to take her to see the professionals so that she doesn't make any silly mistakes again and buys crappy batteries and chargers.
I'm charging the batteries that we do have as I speak. Hopefully they'll be charged by tomorrow.
In other and far more important news, my buddy Charlie the Lab is sick - please visit Opy's blog to read all about it and send him some AIRE ZEN (if you're an Airedale), and/or whatever kind of Zen you can (Lab Zen, Golden Zen, heck even Kitty Zen will help!) so that our pal gets better soon!!! I ripped and ripped and tugged and tugged and FINALLY I got the thing open...
IT IS A WUBBA!!!! I've been Wubba-deprived forever, this is my very first Wubba, I'm soooo excited I can barely contain myself!
I immediately decided to introduce my new Wubba to all of my current stuffy friends. Then I took it aside to get to know it a little better - and I like what I'm chewin' on!
There was another present inside that I'm not going to mention yet as we haven't been able to properly photograph me with it. Mom promises to work on getting a good photo soon (yes, it will be worth the wait).

I wasn't expecting any Christmas cards this year because mom said that she just couldn't do it this time around (not that she didn't want to - it was killing her not to participate this time! - but she just couldn't make it happen)... but this week I got some! I have such cooooooool friends, you all are THE BEST and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy whenever I think about my buddies around the world.
The first one was from Charlie and Opy - isn't this a great picture of them? I was trying to get closer to admire the composition and the portraiture... before mom thwarted my attempt. Ok, I was thinking destruction, but m-o-o-o-m...

Then I got one from my Aire buddies, Maggie & Mitch!!! You guys are so super cool, I LOVE the photo of the two of you! I could swear that I smelled you guys on the card, and I thought a little nibble on a corner could confirm my suspicions... but again, mom stepped in to save the day.

Ohmygosh, this is the best birthday EVER!!!
It started out with my favoritest breakfast - CAT FOOD. Trust me on this one. It's so much yummier than dog food, and I got a whole can of my own.
Mom brought out my cake -- not a big cake this year (after last year's "cake coma" where I consumed a huge bone-shaped cake, passed out from all of the goodness, then went over to my Dale friend's house and in true rock-star style immediately puked out all of the cake which my Dale friends happily then proceeded to eat... good times) just a "pup cake" with a special birthday candle. Mom and I made a wish then blew out the candle... gimme that pup cake. I'm more of a frosting kind of guy rather than an eat-the-whole-thing man so I finished off the frosting first. I'll have the rest of the cake part later (maybe).
Then it's on to the best part - THE PRESENTS!!! I got some packages in the last few days but mom wouldn't let me even sniff 'em, she wanted me to be surprised. Well boy was I ever...
Asta (up over) & her mom made me a SUPER NEATO card, isn't this adorable? Thanks so much Asta, this made me s-m-i-l-e....
I got the COOLEST card from my friends Maggie & Mitch - my mom LOVES this photo!!! It made her laugh so hard that iced tea came out of her nose (this seems to happen to her a LOT these days). Thanks guys, I love my Dale buddies!!!!
It was difficult to decide which present to open first as they all smelled soooooo good... my first present was from Butchy and Snickers - a great bundle of goodies and my VERY FIRST bully rings! Now I see what all the fuss is about guys, these are the BOMB. And a packet of Yummy Chummies which have wild Alaska Salmon in 'em, those look YUMMY. Thanks and big Aire Kisses to my WFT pals!!!!
Next was a parcel all the way from my buddies Charlie & Opy in Australia!!!! They sent me a stuffed toy that I can easily see will be my newest favoritest stuffy.
I also got a spanking new bone-shaped tag that says BOGART and on the back it says D.W.B. #1!!!!! THIS GOT ME ALL EXCITED!!! I don't know how many of my doggie pals know this, but I was the first doggie to join Dogs With Blogs a loooooong time ago and this is SUPER COOLARAMA - THANKS SO MUCH guys, I will wear this with GREAT PRIDE!!!

My final gift was from the prettiest Aire-girl in Europe - Faya!!! Her package came all the way from Switzerland! I got some YUMMY doggie sausages, a DELICIOUS bone, another new stuffy toy with a tennis ball attached (ah sweet Faya, you KNOW ME), and my VERY FIRST bandana!!!! I've always seen all of the other doggies wearing them but I've never had one of my own and now I can wear my Switzerland bandana with PRIDE!!!!! Sweet Faya thank you SOOOOOO MUCH, I'm gnawing on one of my sausages now as I type while wearing my new bandana!!!!
Whew it's been SO MUCH FUN and it's still early... I'm hoping for some burger action later today, then it would be PERFECTION!!!

Normally I'm not a big fan of Mondays... Mom is always cranky and it seems like things never really go the way they should. Lots of the humans seem to think that Mondays aren't all that much fun so I just kind of went along with that until...
Today.
We started out the day by doing my "duck check" (to make sure that the ducks are still there) at the Echo Park lake.
I saw lots of turtles today - more than usual - but of course mom couldn't capture that golden moment on camera.
Then it was errand-time. My least favorite. When I do get to come along (when it's not too hot or sunny) I have to sit in the car to "guard" it for mom. She's not fooling me for a minute. I don't "guard" the car I just sit there in the copilot seat and w-a-i-t. I generally show my discontent by barking loudly just as she enters the store/post office/wherever she's going. You know, just when lots of other people can see just how poorly she treats me and get a good look at her as she quickly runs into the store/post office/wherever.
I must have been uncharacteristically off of my game this morning because mom thought I was really good during the errands, so since we were in the neighborhood she thought a quick run to Rally's might be in order. Mmmmm. Tasty burger for me, well worth it for being (relatively) quiet in the car.
Then since we needed to do a bit of walking mom thought we'd check out how Griffith Park was doing since the big fire, you know, see if our old hiking ground might be open (or if we could sneak in). No dice, they've got the whole thing fenced! That's a lotta fence let me tell you, the fire area was huge! So we walked around it for awhile - admittedly mostly to see if there were any holes we could sneak through) and checked out just how close the fire had come to the beautiful old merry-go-round and picnic areas. Very scary stuff, it was literally just a few feet away.
So while mom was taking in the magnitude of the fire damage, I took in something myself... this spiffy soccer ball! Yes it's deflated and kind of mushy but for me it's PERFECTION. I can get my full mouth around it and carry it with me wherever I go which makes me HAPPY.
It thuds comfortingly when I drop it in front of me, and when mom tries to kick it out of my mighty paws it is easy for even those without those opposable thumbs to grasp. Ha! Score one for the four-leggers...
Ok so normally this would be a GREAT day. End of blog. Time to sleep. But noooooo....
When we got home and after my refreshing drink from my water fountain there was a big thud at the door. So I put on my "big boy voice" and started barking at the evil door. Mom looked through the peephole and didn't see anyone so I thought, "Job done", and retired back to my fountain. Mom opened the door and there it was - a package.
She wasn't expecting anything and looked at it... it was addressed to BOGART HANDSOME DEVIL - gimme gimme gimme!!!
It was from my pals Opy & Charlie all the way in Australia!!!!! I know that my manners in this arena may need a little sharpening but darn it GIMME THAT PACKAGE!!!
I made very quick work of the outer packaging to get to my NEW SOFT FURRY TOY!!!!! I LOVE THIS!!!! I don't know if I've told everyone, but soft toys are my absolute favorite and I do not have nearly enough of them... this guy has a surfboard and cool board shorts on, did I mention how much I LOVE HIM???
