Farm-aire-s Market

Today we had a mission. Mama had to go to the Hollywood Farmers Market to take some photos of a cooking demonstration, and as you can imagine there is no way she could do this alone...

First we must fortify ourselves (after a considerable walk) with a chocolate croissant. I get croissant, mama gets the chocolate. Win-Win!

Mmm... croissant...

You gonna finish that?

No self serve? Really? I wasn't self-serving, I was just cleaning off your plate. You know, so you wouldn't waste any food. Or have to carry a heavy plate inside to the garbage. I'M HELPING

Kisses make EVERYTHING better. Especially after you try to steal food (special tip to remember).

So we finally made it over to the farmers market and found the cooking demo. Mama took over 300 photos - hopefully the practice that she gets taking daily photos of me will yield some good ones.

Ok the farmers market is interesting, but not really fascinating for a dog. Some other doggies and that kept me busy for a few minutes, but once mama was done so was I.

I needed a drink, and I needed some sustenance.

Now I KNOW you're not going to eat all of that mama. I can help you with all of that yummo cheese...

And some more water too, please. We still have a long walk home.

Mmm... KITTIES! Painted on a wall somewhere on NE Broadway.

Hey look! Cigar smoking allowed. I've brought my own!!!

No P-ing?

I saw this sign during my lunchtime walkie and had to investigate. How can they legislate such a thing? What dog in his or her right mind would obey such something as silly as a sign saying that there will be no P on this block? Marking my territory is my birthright!

Notice how I "stick it to the man".

What a Week it Was

Mama has had a tough week. She has definitely felt that the universe was kicking her repeatedly in the butt. I of course try my best to make her happy and smile - most days it works like a charm - but this week was a challenge, even for this Dale.

Walking around somewhat aimlessly this morning, she noticed something:

While we're pretty sure that the universe doesn't leave personal notes, this unusual message caught both of our eyes.

Apology accepted, Universe, ONLY if you're done kicking mama in the butt! Otherwise back to the drawing board for you...

And now for something completely adorable - me getting back to my regularly scheduled program of trying to make mama smile:

The last thing a pine cone sees before it meets its maker...

Is it gone? Disappeared into my giant, waiting maw?

Nah. Fooled you. Are you smiling yet mama?

I don't see you smiling...

Come on, LOOK AT THE CUTENESS...

I am using all of my special Dale Powers to make you even crack a smile... NO ONE CAN TRULY RESIST...

Success! A smile! AND I finally get that damn cone. Good all around!

Aire-o-Dynamic

Ah, the best way to start off a not-so-sunny Saturday...

Pumpernickel style!

Now what mama? Can we walk down some different streets?

During our daily walkies, I make sure that mama and I don't get bored. Even though we tend to stay in the same areas, there is no need to walk down the exact same streets every time. So sometimes I cross the street, sometimes I devise an alternate plan.

Especially when I spot a tasty stick on the other side of the street. Yes this one is lovely, but I see an even better one...

Come on, lets cross again!!!

Of course there are chores - there are always chores - so it's off into the Bogcedes.

Someone has to keep an eye on mama's driving. Back seat driver, you say? HELL YES...

Not so fast. Keep your eyes on the road. Watch that car in front.

Ooh... wind in the fuzz. Distraction time!

NOT FOR YOU. You keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road!

Woo-hoo!!!

OH YEAH!!!

Nice driving mama - nice and steady. I APPROVE.

Terrier Teachings

Craft-sy? Just feelin' destructive? Curious about how to take down a nice, juicy stick and look cool doing it?

I am here to help.

First look around. Be aware of your surroundings. Any other doggies in the area? Unattended and annoying children? Mailmen?

Then let your mama know you're ready to begin so she can get the camera ready to capture all of the golden moments.

Now... begin. First tear off the tenderest pieces, usually the ends.

Chomp.

As the stick will naturally try to get away, hold it down with a mighty paw.

Chomp again.

Pose so your mama will leave you alone and stop asking you to look at the camera. Feel free to insert your funniest face here, but try to give her one good one. Trust me on this. And then you will be free to resume the stick destruction.

If all else fails - or if the pictures just keep coming fast and furiously - pick up your stick and move it to a more appropriate location. Like your mama's bed...

Another fine lesson from a Terrier Teacher...

Sign 'o the Times

OK, this is too perfect for me at the moment:

Because that's exactly what mama has cooked for me this week - chicken and a pork chop. So I have to assume that this sign was made specifically for me and for no other reason.

I also saw this sign today for a lost wolverine and platypus (if you can't read it, try the larger version on www.toaireisdivine.com/blog):

Silly Portland people.
