Oktoberfest

Ah.... OKTOBERFEST. I never get to go to these things, usually it's just a promise of some bratwurst smuggled home in a doggie bag for me. But here in Oregon, they do things a little differently. Today we drove to Mount Angel for what must be the biggest Oktoberfest we've ever seen! So this is going to make for one of the longest posts I've ever done, complete with the MOST pictures mama has ever had to smash into one blog post. So LETS GO!

Boy was it FANTASTIC! There were so many people, so many dogs, so much food... it was a huge test to see how socialized I can be.

Lots of accordionists... I was intrigued.

I ran into this little terrier dude a few times... he definitely thought he was bigger than he is! True terrier attitude...

This was a pretty girl I didn't get to sniff nearly long enough..

The variety of dogs both surprised me and made me really, really happy. Lots of girls!!!

This lady was spinning yarn - the spinning thing both caught my attention and kinda freaked me out.

Where is the FOOD???

We'd heard they would be having Wiener Dog Races but we never found them... just these two who lok like they could be fierce competitors...

Hey dad it's a little sunny out here today, kind of warm. Guess that means we need to seek out a tasty beverage...

More accordions...

She had to have been one of my favorite girlies...

Can you see that we're both off of the ground, sniffing each other? Ah, all too brief...

Mama and dad also met some nice people who have 2 Airedales - and one is a girl that they're looking for a nice boy to make some babies with... CHOOSE ME ME ME ME ME ME ME

Do you think I need some lederhosen? We took a quick look inside, no dog lederhosen and since dad comes from the land of lederhosen, he wasn't impressed.

Still thinking about that frosty beverage...

Ok sausage... I can be persuaded to stop for some of that.

Fried TWINKIES???

No dogs in the weingarten or the biergarten. Grrrrrrr

Ok, FINALLY in the sausage tent. Get me a big one will ya dad?

Mmmmmmmmmmmm

Thanks for remembering that I like it in small pieces - eating off of the ground maybe isn't ideal, but it works!

But hey, that frosty beverage....

We stopped at Bavarian Haus for the drinks. Mama and I got us some seats. PROST!

Then we walked around more - basically the entire little town is taken over for Oktoberfest - and they had a classic car show too! Since I'm in the market for a new Bogiemobile, I thought I'd take a look around for something suitable...

Some are more practical than others...

I like the license plate on this one... HICKUP

This one is kind of cool but I'd be worried about not having enough space for you dad...

But wait... another gorgeous girl - a goldendoodle! We compared notes about what it's like to be confused for a poodle...

Ok, this might be the one dad... I'd look SO COOL in this... CAN WE GET IT???

Wait wait wait... maybe I spoke too soon... maybe THIS is the new Bogiemobile...

OH YEAH...

Hey, this one kind of looks like the current Bogiemobile but it's topless... this might be more our speed, and our budget...

But the baby blue Thunderbird? Also a good choice...

After several hours it was time to drive home... my least favorite part. But we did get to stop at a fruit and vegetable stand...

On the way home, we all decided that it might be best to stop off at the Lucky Lab before heading home. I agreed this would be an exceptional idea. And there we met Max...

He's a cool Bulldog and super sweet. I told dad that he could give him some of my chicken treats...

But of course I wanted some as well, I feel like I'd earned them...

Lots of Labs there today (as always - I think the Labrador Retriever is the official dog of Portland!) and this fine German Shepherd.

We were very taken by Max, and spent lots of time talking with him and his dad. What a great face, huh?

Don't I look like the perfect pup here? I do love my mama, and always feel the need to protect her...

Socialization test - PASSED Distraction test - uh, well...

Love,

Bogart in Belmont

Another weekend in Portland, another street fair. I've gotta say that I love this street fair thing, it gives us all a chance to explore neighborhoods that we might not normally visit! Today we're doing the Belmont Street Fair...

First things first - check messages, see who has been here before...

Then look at all of the brightly-colored things...

Ok this freaked me out - it was a stuffed tree (ahem, with a HUMAN inside) - and I was mightily displeased at it's existence. I kept barking at it but it wouldn't go away... so I suppose that I must be the intelligent one and walk in a different direction...

This way mama... AWAY from the walking tree that I cannot pee on...

One seater car? With no place for me as co-pilot? FAIL...

No such thing as a vehicle without space for Bogart. Right mama?

This one might be cool... if it goes fast enough for me to keep my head out of the window, ears flapping in the breeze...

Hey, cool old firehouse!

They have a cool museum inside with old steam engines...

And they even have a fire hydrant conveniently placed for their canine visitors, for leaving messages and relieving stress...

Ok, so maybe it's not for canine benefit. Thanks for letting me know mama before I left them a little, ahem, present...

Walking around the street fair made us all thirsty. Since things were pretty crowded there we figured we'd head over to Amnesia brewpub for some tasty brewskis...

Oh yeah, this place is n-i-c-e...

Love,

A Citizen of Gooberstan

Oh, Y-E-S...

It is always a GOOD DAY when a package arrives from the Republic of Gooberstan...

I have heard - and seen - much of the fabled pink flamingo. However, I have never personally experienced this rare bird... UNTIL TODAY

I must introduce my new retro pal to the expanse of my backyard...

Yes, he will fit in nicely with my stuffed squid, my orange flying saucer, all of my tennies, my squeaky steak and of course my half-deflated soccer ball.

Stanley, I gotta tell it to ya straight. YOU THE MAN!!!

I really had no idea of what I was missing, how empty my life was until today.

The possibilities are simply ENDLESS with the furry pink guy. I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT

Oh and Kafka reminded me that you also enclosed a card... Mama LOVES that photo of you, she put it up on her wall in her office right away. Amazing ear action there, my friend, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

I just wanna tell you how very much you mean to me buddy, to have another male Dale pal who UNDERSTANDS. Nose lovin' to yo mama...

Meowie Wowie

CAT ALERT * CAT ALERT * CAT ALERT

As always, whenever a post will be featuring my feline friends, I give a big ol' warning to all of my pup peeps.

Ready? Lets GO...

We went to the Hawthorne Fish House because mama had been craving their yummo french fries and a Gardenburger. She looked like she was enjoying it, and then apparently we had to "walk it off"... no clue what that means, but hey, whenever walking is involved, I'm in (but if we need to take the bus, I know how to make 'em stop for me... WATCH THIS)...

We got a little treat for the kitties... the black girlie is Sekhmet and it looks like she approves...

Yup, Kafka also seems to think that the Meowie Wowie will be up to snuff...

That's when Behemoth sauntered over to check out what was going on...

Sekhmet was concerned that Kafka may try to take the whole bag, run with it, hide under something, and then tear it to pieces just before he rolls his entire tubby tabby body all over it, thoroughly coating himself in catnip. She is of course, correct...

Oh yeah, Kafka is plotting...

Sekhmet makes her play for some organic nip...

They have a short conversation (which I could not understand, being that I speak dog and uh, English, so cat is beyond my powers of understanding)...

And it seems like all will be well. Just as long as separate bits of catnip are placed strategically around the house far away from each other. DEAL!
