Third Time's the Charm

I'm getting awfully good at this therapy dog thing. I mean, I would completely suck at it if I was doing it for people I didn't know. I would get annoyed at being petted to be sure, and if anyone tried to hug me who wasn't mama or dad... well, lets just say that I would fail the class at that point. But since this is dad we're talking about...

That's right, Bogart Handsome Devil, Therapy Dog, in da House!!!

First I had to check out dad's new digs - this was the first time I'd seen him here. Everything smells a little different, especially those pillows for some reason. I'd also heard through mama that the nurses are trying to encourage dad to poop, so I thought I'd do my part to be encouraging...

Aw dad, I'll still always lick your toes like always.

Mama has explained that we come here to help dad get better - that he's really, really sick and needs a miracle. Well dad, here I am - your fuzzy miracle

Mama was a little sneaky again - this time no chair (cause the chair did kind of freak me out after awhile last time), we just lowered dad so I could get close. Instead of semi-stale bagel, she brought some bacon treats which got broken into little pieces and placed between dad's fingers. MMM.. dad.

I went in for a couple of smooches - and to check that all of dad's medication lines were hunky dory.

Mama loves dad so much - almost as much as me - she has to be very strong for him these days.

It turns out that this therapy dog business has an added benefit: a trip through the drive thru. Oh yeah baby, I'm considering exactly what I want from Jack in the Box.

Hm. Where is that voice coming from? Who is this disembodied person who will provide me with all of the meaty goodness I so richly deserve?

Ah, we're almost there... just behind one car. That means we'll get up there fast. Mmmaybe.

Never fast enough for me when I'm in the drive thru lane. And I'm always here to help - mama, give me the cash, I'll grab that bag in my teeth and we'll be outa here.

No? Are you sure?

So then I had to wait until we got home to dig into that fine Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger.

Longtime readers know that these things happen in a very specific fashion - burger falls from sky, wrapper opens as napkin, then I eat the patty and bun in my own inimitable way.

Yes, I could totally get into this therapy dog thing. Just let me know when I am needed next.

Love,

Bogart

Man, you're a dog of many talents and I have NO DOUBT that you are an integral part of your dad's recovery plan. You were rockin' that ICU, dude. Kudos.

If your dad needs to poo, then poo is what we shall be hoping and praying for. No problem. We're poo experts, so we oughtta know what we're talking about, right?

Glad to see the burgers still fall from the sky for you because you have been earning it, friend. Please give your dad and your mama goober hugs and smooches from all of us here. One step at a time.

And, my girl sends you the biggest, juiciest smooch for your punkin head, and promises you an unlimited supply of Atomic Booty Scritches!

Sweet Bogart,

Stanley told me your dad's nurses are trying to get him to poo. Please tell your dad, respectfully, that if he doesn't poo soon I'll come over there and kick it out of him! Then, of course, I'll snuggle right up and give him itty bitty kissies on his sweet face.

Willing to do my part, that's all.

Goobery love & kissies for you and your mama too,
Stella Bean

We're so glad that you got to visit with your dad again, Bogie! We sure hope he felt you licking the bacon bits between his fingers! Open your eyes, Klaus, please! We are praying so hard for you!
Mom and dad took us to Glenwood yesterday, Bogie, but we didn't get a whole hamburger like you did! We only got a sniff as mom plowed hers down! What an oinker!

Love ya lots,

Hello Bogart

You are working so hard these days. Looking after the house for your Mummy while she is at the hospital and then taking her for walks when she comes home.

AND you are a Therapy dog for your Dad as well.

We think you are a super Dale.

Molly and Taffy

PS. We know Dales have amazing therapy powers, our predecessor, Ben, worked magic, he was a Therapy dog and visited hospitals once a week and the miracles he made happen...........
Keep the Dale thairapy going Bogart!

Good thing you went through the drive through. You need to keep your strength up and a cheeseburger is just the ticket. Any fries with that?

Glad the new room is Bogart approved. Now we can send our healing vibes to the new room.

Guard dog, therapy dog, official food taster -- you truly are a dog of many talents Bogie! Not to mention you inherent clowning skills which are keeping your Mom's spirits up.

As for the poop, I always find eating some of Mica's cat food works for me. (Mommy had colon surgery last month so we know all about the all-important poop!)

We're sending all our prayers your way!

Your pal,

Petey

Ciao mio dolce Bogie!

What a magnificent dottore you are, caro amico! Add that to your already impressive list of skills and talents and it's plain to see you're the renaissance 'dale of the century! I think you earned and richly deserved that juicy cheeseburger! (BTW, I'm blown away by your drive-thru ordering abilities. I usually just lunge across mia ragazza and attempt to jam my big muso into whatever bag comes out that adorable little window!)

Ok, now I have to scoot over so mia ragazza can say something to Lulu. (Hoomans! Hmph!)

Lulu, Lucia (in her doggie way!) and I pray for you and Klaus every single day, friend we do not yet know. And you have our promise that we'll continue to do so until your beloved is well. Hang tight, sweetie!

Tanti baci!
Lucia and her ragazza
