Weisswurst for Bogie

YUMMO!

Today we had to take this guy:

My buddy Kafka, to the vet. I don't know if you can see it in this photo, but he'd been overgrooming his belly and legs, so much so that he's kind of bald. Mama wants to make sure that there isn't anything wrong with him, she thinks that all of the stress of moving and having a new tabby in the house might be causing it - but she's gotta be sure. I am left to guard the house during Kafka's great adventure, a job that I will do but it's not my first choice.

The humans were gone for a few hours and then they returned with THIS:

W-E-I-S-S-W-U-R-S-T

Let me help ya with that Dad - that's a BIG sausage for one person to eat all alone... Happy to help!

Love,

Bogart

PS - it turns out that Kafka is FINE, the vet thinks that mama was right about the stress! So stop licking yourself all day long Kafka!!!

Squidoo Airedales

Can you Dales do me a favor?

I have an Airedale Bloggers lens on Squidoo - and I want to be sure that all of my Airedale friends are on it! Check it out, make sure I have your link, and let me know if you want any changes.

I also have lenses for All Dog Bloggers and I'm making one for Terrier Bloggers. Those aren't quite as finished as the Airedale Bloggers one is - but please check 'em out and let me know if you want to be included!

Mountain Man

Woo-hoo! I'm going up into the mountains today!!!

We're heading to Zigzag - and we're going to walk in the mountains of the Mt. Hood National Forest!

See, dad and I are REAL mountain men - we're prepared with our rucksack filled with supplies just in case...

Now it's time to head up - we hope to get all the way to Ramona Falls (about 4.4 miles)

Wait a minute... WHAT IS THIS WHITE STUFF? It's COLD and it's WET and it's WHITE...

Yes folks, this is Bogart's First Snow. The only snow I've ever seen was fake snow made on the street in Pasadena, I've never been in anything real before.

This is the river - it doesn't seem like much from this vantage point but that's deceiving...

I SMELL SOMETHING - there were ANIMALS here!!!!!!!! (note to Bogart - yep, there was deer poop everywhere)

There was still a LOT of snow, and walking wasn't easy for the humans who only have their inferior 2-wheel drive... I however have canine 4-wheel drive so for me it was no problemo.

Look at this giant tree! It made mom and me look TINY!!!

I even found a great stick - woo-hoo!!

It was a great walk, I can't wait to do it again! I hear that next time there probably won't be any snow so the walking will be easier - and of course, it will be easier to see all of the sticks!!!

Back in dad's car, time to drive home. These longish drives relax me...

One more snout full of fresh mountain air...

Hey wait, you mean I HAVE TO SIT IN THE CAR WHILE YOU TWO GO EAT???

Ah it's ok. I'm kinda tired anyway...

Pearl Puppy

Today we went into the city - for a walk around. I've been missing our walks in Pasadena, so mom thought that I should see the area of town that she works in. It's called The Pearl, and it's a very trendy area. We were also going to walk around in NW Portland to check out some of the stores and cafes...

And who do I find first?

A sweet girl Welshie!!!

She was adorable!!! We had lots of fun sniffing and playing. I really hope I see her again!!!

We stopped at the famous Escape From NY Pizza in NW Portland. The pizza was delicious - we all loved the pizza.

Hey dad, you brought treats??? GIMME ONE

Then we walked back through the Pearl to the Bogie-mobile. I did LOTS of marking to make sure that other Portland doggies knew that I was in town.

Back at home, I sensed that there might be more treats where those last ones came from.

Hey dad, you got any more of those treats? ARE YOU SURE?

Aha! I had a funny feeling that you had the dehydrator fired up last night... apparently it's working...

Time for some quality control...

Hm. I'm not completely convinced that those are perfect. Give me another one just to be sure...

Yum Yum Yum

Saturday... It's All Right

Firstly and most importantly a Robin update - I hear that he's running for pie so that's a good sign. I'm not ready to slow up the Zen yet, but so far so good...

Robin my friend... this package is for you. I've been bugging dad to get the dehydrator working again, as I know you must be wondering where all of the treats went when I left Los Angeles. It's up to you whether or not you want to share with Jupie & Kermit, although I'd suggest giving them some too. Don't tell Mareike ok, so she's surprised when the package arrives.

Today we were back in the Hawthorne district - mom had a hankering for a gardenburger at that fish and chips place we went to not too long ago, and dad agreed (although his hankering was for the fish and chips).

We had to wait a little while to get a table, so I decided to shower mom with kisses. I know it looks like she doesn't like it in this picture but trust me - SHE LOVES IT

I am a potent KISSING MACHINE

I tried to go inside a few stores but mostly had to wait outside. Grrrr... I thought these might be more accommodating but no dice...

So I did what any self-respecting Dale would do:

Back at the homestead, dad is FINALLY getting back into the swing of making my stew. This is the beef heart...

Since it's been some time since he has prepared this tasty dish for me, I thought it most prudent that I sample some of his handiwork.

And again...

And again...

And yet again...

I'm thinking this will work - good job dad!

Love,

Bogart
