The Rittenhouse Pine Cone Blues

Rittenhouse Square park.  One of my regular parks full of people, dogs, and good smells.  Today I have come to poop.

Well, thank you.  I also think that all will be well as I had turkey soup last night which really "agrees" with my constitution.

What is that that you are hiding behind your back mama?

I'm gonna get it...

Ok, fine.  Be that way.  I didn't want it anyway.

Are you sure you didn't want to give it to me?

HA!  PINE CONE!!!

Gimme that.

(just a photo for anyone who thinks that trying to photograph an excited Airedale who is trying to chomp the pine cone in your hand while you hold the camera with the other and oh yeah you have gloves on because it's still frickin' cold outside is easy)

Yes, I would like that fine cone mama.  Have I told you how much I love you yet today?

No?  Then let me show you...

I will even jump majestically for your silly photos.  If that isn't love, then what is?

That's How the Cookie Crumbles

FINALLY.

Mama got some poop bags and most importantly, a squirrel cookie.

That'll do.  Thanks mama!

Feeling Power-less

This does not compute.  I come to my very favorite store, Just Dogs Gourmet, and the lights are out and the door is closed to my nose-pushing.  What does it mean?

Store Closed due to power outage.  Still doesn't compute for me.  Who needs power - I WANT COOKIES

They do, of course, have another lovely window display but that isn't really satisfying me.

ME WANT COOKIE

Even the fake dog that sits out front thought I should be able to have my cookie.  Yes I know that I can come back another night, but damnit, I was thinking cookie the entire way over here.  And mama is almost out of poop bags and she refuses to use sandwich bags like many of the folks here use.  Apparently my poop is way too powerful for one simple sandwich bag (don't ask).  Ah well.  Another time (soon)...

Love, Denmark Style

Today a package arrived at my door.  It smelled good.  Mama said that it came from Denmark, and I didn't know much about Denmark.  So we sat down to open it, and lookie what was inside:

Mama started to look at the book but damnit I smelled something delicious - put down the book mama, there is something delicious inside!

NOT FAST ENOUGH.  I grabbed the bag of treats and ran into the other room. Unfortunately mama was fast, I only got to rip apart one side before she brought it back for the photo op.

Look at this.  How cool is that?  Real salmon for rugged individualist dogs JUST LIKE ME

I cannot begin to tell you how yummy this is.

Oh yeah, I like the book too.  Not as much as mama (she loved it!) but sure, I'll give it the Bogart seal of approval!

But wait... there was more inside.  A cool t-shirt with an AIREDALE on it - Mama ALWAYS needs more of those!  And the saying is SO TRUE:

If it's not an Airedale...

It's just a DOG.

Now back to those salmon treats.

I would normally take this time to explain how yummy the treats are, how much I love them, but it's very hard to talk with your mouth full...

NOM NOM NOM

These are some of the yummiest treats I have ever tasted, but don't just take my word for it...

Kafka loved 'em...

Sekhmet loved 'em...

Behemoth loved 'em...

Willie loved 'em...

And Aeon loved 'em.

And mama LOVES her new shirt, and will wear it with PRIDE.

Lone and Sten (and of course Soya and Sheba), thank you so very much for all of the lovely presents and your letter.  It made my day.  It made me smile.  And it made Bogart and my kitties go nuts for salmon!  I am sorry for your loss of Sheba and it's so fantastic that you have Soya - I don't have to understand Danish to understand the extreme cuteness level of your sweet Soya:  www.bricksite.com/airedale

Helping Japan's Animals

We have been so moved watching all of the devastation that has happened to the people of Japan during the recent earthquake, tsunami, and reactor breakdowns... and have been looking for ways to help.  Being very focused on animals and animal issues, we were searching for how to donate to help Japan's animals and the search and rescue dogs that surely will be lending their extraordinary talents to helping find humans in trouble.

We found this post on Pet Captain with some info on how and where to donate to help the animals of Japan:  http://petcaptain.com/blog/cat/help-save-animals-japan-tsunami-disaster

Me and Jack

It pays to look up and around when you're doing a little Sunday tour of the city.  Sometimes you don't see anything interesting, and sometimes...

This is my new pal Jack.  He's an even bigger Airedale than me.

We did some serious sniffing, checking each other out, you know, just to be sure that we were cool with each other...

He's a handsome devil, isn't he?

I'm smitten.  A little playin', a little runnin', and a lot of sniffin'.  He's my kind of guy.

Smells darned good too.  We're both manly, musky men.

Yeah, we have to get our mamas to take us on a long walkie together sometime.  Imagine people's reactions when they see both of us!

One final sniff my friend... until we meet again!

Party at Chez Bogart

Saturday nights at my place are always a blast - me and mama have to come up with ways to amuse ourselves, and you know that means trouble.

There's singing... (she calls it howling along with passing ambulances, I call it singing damnit).

And of course, EATING... I raided that crockpot for every last drop of turkey soup goodness tonight.

Then busting out funny costumes that I won't wear and trying to take some completely-unincriminating photos.  It's good to live with someone who knows how to party.  Mama is LUCKY to have me around.

Bogart
