Kirby's Kone

FINALLY... mom and I packed up the special pine cone for my buddy Kirby today...

I had to help to make sure it was packed just right... and to give it one last lick for quality control. Kirby my friend, the cone is on it's way - no dog should be without a giant pine cone!!!

After we delivered it to the post office, we took a little walk in the park. It's RAINING here today, and while I used to not really like the rain so much today I'm Lovin' It. It's like it's finally dawned on me that I can shake off all of the rain on my back (thanks to my Aire-fuzz) so that I can run more! And I didn't even lose the tennis ball that you see me modelling here...

Lots of new green grass here soon - and we really really need the rain here!

Stump on... Stumps

This is a stump.

This is one of the men who climbed the tree in the back yard of Mareike's house with a large knife.

See my stump? My fuzzy stump, that is. I'm relaxing for a moment while all of the hub-bub is happening around me.

Ah... a little more stump-age now. I'm waking up and realizing that dad may need my help...

Oh well guess not. I've been banished to the inside to "relax". Maybe that's not such a bad idea...

Cone for Kirby

Hey Kirby, I know you said that you've never seen pine cones as big as the ones I have so I thought I'd pick one out for ya...

I looked everywhere around my morning walkie place (that's the BEST place to find the gigantic cones, and those are the most fun)...

And then I found THIS ONE

I protected it from interlopers...

And tasted it for quality control. Kirby my man, it's waiting here in my house with your name on it if you want it.

Snow in LA?

I was dumbfounded. What is this wet white stuff that is all over the street in Pasadena today? It's wet, kind of slippery, and well just weird.

It was SNOW. And REINDEER. Yes, REAL LIVE REINDEER.

Mom pushed away the screaming children so that I could get a good look - and sniff. Very interesting... and I definitely could get into that snow thing if we ever had any real snow (mom and I saw them pumping it out of a machine... LA is such a weird place)...

Ah... Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was nice and easy this year. The humans didn't have anyone over, we didn't go anywhere, and there was no major cooking done. I had my regular Bogie-stew (I'm not really into turkey) but the kitties got a special bag of their favorite treats in turkey flavor to celebrate...

That's Behemoth, he's my best buddy...

Then it was time to snuggle with dad. This was an unremarkable Thanksgiving but a nice one as I got to spend it with all of the warm and furry things that I love. Hope yours was great too!

2007: A Pine Cone Odyssey

Hairecut

Today mom tried to get some good pictures of my new Hairecut...

(see her evil arm in the shadow, withholding a big, juicy stick until I smile for the camera?)

I feel much sleeker and I think I lost a pound of fuzz. Mom and dad take turns pulling out my hair with a rake - it doesn't hurt but after awhile I get kind of annoyed. But then again I do think I look pretty good, and I have to always remember that every girl crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man...

I really like to play with my leather leash. I like to hold the loop in my mouth and use it to "direct" mom to the places I want to go. Works pretty darned well. Today I managed to get her to go into Petco...

I perused the aisles while she grabbed another one of those Deli Fresh rolls for me. A nice big fat one... yummy yummy yum.

I checked out some new furniture for the kitties - this would be awfully fun and they'd like it mom - I could play with them too as they scamper from perch to perch and I try to keep my nose away from their claws...

The Greenies were on sale but since we were already getting a Deli roll we passed 'em by...

Mom always lets me choose a treat but this time I smelled everything but wanted nothing. Just window shopping, I guess...

Today was the first day in awhile that I haven't been over with dad at Mareike's house playing with the Dales... I miss you guys! I mean, mom tries the best she can to amuse me but no one knows me quite like another Airedale does...

Helping Dad

All this week I've been helping dad - over at Mareike's. He's been doing some gardening, and I've been helping. Of course I get to hang out with my 3 favorite Dales so it really doesn't get any better for me than this.

Basically this means that while I've been having a really good time, since dad was in charge there are no photos of all of this Aire-fun. We've been out walking 4 Dales at a time (the response to this is particularly great as people stop what they're doing, slow down their cars, and pull out their cell phones to take pictures), got kicked out of a dog-free flea market (honestly, how can this be possible here in California that dogs aren't allowed at all of the flea markets?), had some burgers at the Good Microbrew. I've helped dad to corral the many sticks that were scattered all over the garden, and peed on his new bucket (well, I think this is important...).

Jupie has been taking over as my pawsonal trainer - she's the fastest runner I've ever seen, and when she takes off up the hill I cannot help myself but I must run after her. She's a tough cookie but a cutie-pie, and she just got a nice haircut so she's all soft and sweet...

I got a haircut too - well, I got lots of hair pulled out - and now that it's the weekend I'm hoping that mom will take some photos. I think I look rather handsome.

Tonight some silly movie is being filmed in the back of my house in my park. I am not pleased. So mom, dad and I went for a walk - right in the middle of the filming. Hey it's MY park and I do not recall being asked for permission for them to ride their silly vehicles up and down the hill. I felt the need to use my big boy bark when one of the filming-humans startled me and I managed to startle a large group of them in return.

Ah, good times...

Lunch at Lovebirds

(mom thinks I look like Stanley here - I'm flattered by the comparison!)

It was a lovely day outside today so we piled into the Bogiemobile (the black Beetle, not the yellow Ferrari that I'm still hoping is mine...) and drove to Pasadena. Yup, we go there a LOT because it's one of the few places in Los Angeles that we can walk, see stuff, and of course, have lunch al fresco with yours truly.

We stopped at Lovebirds Cafe for a bite - always fun as there seems to be a never-ending lineup of people interested in knowing what breed of dog I am and wanting to touch my head. Yes, I'm as wiry as I look apparently.

Then we needed a short walk - for digestion purposes of the humans, and to burn off some excess Aire-nergy.

There was some art that we stopped to look at - I was intrigued for a moment (more than usual) but then I was back to sniffing trees.

On the drive home mom was taking pictures of me over her shoulder - I like to stick my head out of the drivers side window while we cruise...

Twas fun. Even tho we didn't get to do anything particularly special for it, we want to say HAPPY VETERANS DAY to everyone!!!
