Plant Friendly

So it looks like the humans are thinking about putting some plants in my backyard. Apparently the folks who lived in this house before me had 3 big dogs, one of which they kept chained in the backyard, and they did a lot of damage. We want to get off on the right foot and make the place nice, so we've put down grass seed on the area where the poor doggie was chained (it's verrrrry obvious), and we're filling up holes.

Which brings me to something I hold dear: digging.

Many of you have seen me in all of my digging glory in my old park in Los Angeles. If not, let me refresh your memory:

Yes, I am an Airedale Terrier and I like to dig. That said, mom and dad are thinking that maybe they should take this into account when planning the backyard and garden flora and vegetabalia. Some sort of hedge or vine-type thing along the back fence perhaps, to dissuade me from digging in all of those tasty areas that I've already found where the last dogs liked to try to make their escape? Any ideas for things that should be avoided would be welcome as well.

I also am feeling the loss of my "office" - the space I had in Mareike's yard back in LA - so I'm thinking that I might like to construct a new one, complete with desk lamp and spot for my laptop so that I may blog in peace.

This is their first time doing something like this, so I'm ready to excuse their potential stupidity. At least they're willing to admit to it, and do this RIGHT.

Love,

Bogart

Abby and Rosie http://blog.ourdoglog.com/ just posted about poisonous plants to avoid! Mom loves wisteria and it's pretty sturdy once it gets going!
Hey, Bogie! That treehouse is perfect for your office space, don't you think?

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

Bogart Buddie!

Well, that quite the yard you have acquired in your new home ~ Pawslaps dude!

So, we Dales from Boston have this to share oabout digging - as we LOVE to DIG!......

Our Mumsie fills our holes int he yard with our poopsies, mixed with some little rocks....we won't dig there again cause we are too dignified to go diggin in our waste and it hurts our paws whene there are too many rockies in there too. We definately aire-out and go to town when we find a new spot to dig - and we like to dig wide and deep....with 2 sets of paws we work much faster ya know.....

Mumsie was worried we would try to dig outof our yard too but the whole poop thingy is working in her favor.

Good luck, keep digging...we know the urge to dig is so hard to resist...no matter how many toys we have. Also, Mumsie knows if we are tired and go on "bye-bye's" with her we dig less...more walking means fewer holes! Yeah but when there's snow on the ground....We really have a pawty! Then we dig as much as we want!

We'll be thinking of ya...good luck in your new yardie and make sure to mark EVERY corner so all the neighborhood knows your there!

As you are past your puppy phase, maybe the plants will survive. Our garden would be fine if it weren't for a certain young lady...!

Hey, Bogart!

LOoks like you and your peeps are getting ready to decorate your office. Glad you're going to clear out those chained-up-doggie demons. (Poor guy.)

Can't wait to see what you do with the place. My girl was telling me that rhubarb leaves are poisonous. (I don't know if that is on the post Maggie sent you the link to). Other than that, we're neophytes like you guys.

Goober love & smooches,
Stanley

Watch out, my man, humans have no sense of humor about their plants and such. I get no thanks for all the landscaping that I do around this place.

Your digging skills might have to be put in check. I hear that Momma actually put poops wherever Grandpa Angus was excavating. Ewww!

WE airedales know there are things under the ground that our pawents could use....We are only trying to find the hidden treasures and help them out a little bit....Ain't that right?
