Michael Phelps Who?

Inspired by the absolutely amazing Michael Phelps and his 8 gold medals, today I decided was going to be the day that I actually SWIM. You'll remember that last time I went into the river I only waded up until my beard. Today I'm gonna go ALL THE WAY...

Ok, maybe not right away...

Wait a minute dad, did I say I was going to swim today? Uh, I think I meant something else... oh well, HERE WE GO...

The Sandy River isn't that deep here which is FANTASTIC - it made me feel like I was swimming well before I actually was.

Can you see me here? I'M SWIMMING!!!

Totally wet, totally swimming. Woo-hoo!

And even better, there are STICKS in this river - why didn't anyone tell me this sooner? - and since it's really hot outside today, I'm LOVIN' this...

There were lots of people who had the same idea that I did about swimming today, and lots of other doggies. There was even a human in a kayak who got a little too close for comfort...

This is me splashing him as he went by... he was really moving fast, but I think he got the idea that I wasn't pleased by all of my fuzzy splashing.

Notice my technique here - paws straight out, nose up, stick in mouth.

Then... SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE

And of course then I had to pee on the sand castle that two little girls were building while I was swimming. Just to show 'em that I'M THE MAN...

Oh yeah. Wet, muddy, AND sandy beard... whaddaya think ladies?

I'm feeling very rugged individualist here.

A final parting beard shot...

Ah, yet another thing that I have conquered. Just like Michael. I'm feeling good, but I'm also feeling thirsty.

EXACTLY what I was thinking... a quick visit to the Lucky Lab for some brewskis.

Please... NO AUTOGRAPHS...

Love,

Bogart

Hey, Bogart!

I'm glad the crowds left you alone so you could have a quiet moment with your family. That was very accomodating of them.

I bet it was hard for them, though, after your winningly heroic swimming performance only moments before. I really like your technique. I even think there may be a future for you in water ballet. You can swim, do stick work, and work the crowd all at once. Now... THAT's talent!

Goober love & welcome to the ranks of swimming dogs,
Stanley

Hey Bogart! You are one very pawsome airedale. I'm new to your blog. My name is Gabe and I'm a Landseer Newfoundland dog. Maggie and Mitch sent me to your blog because I went swimming for the first time this weekend too.

I think the peeing on the sandcastle was a great final touch to your day of olympic proportion.

If you care to, come and visit me at my blog.

Woofs and slobbers from your Newfie pal,
Gabe

Bogart,

I am so proud of you! You are becoming such a swimming stud! Isn't it THE best way to cool off on a hot summer day. I just love the water. Keep up the great work!! Oh, also, happy belated birthday. I sent you an e-card, but I'm not sure if you got it. The website was acting up when Mom and I sent it, so a huge Happy 3rd Birthday!!!

Bogart!

I missed your birthday! I feel so horrible! I tried to remind my human that it was your day, but she wouldn't listen! So, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY BOGART!

I need to work on your swimming technique, mine doesnt' quite look like yours, my butt floats while my front paddlers do all the work.

I didn't know the lakes had sticks either, I need to look into this ASAP!

Also, I want to thank you for pushing me and my human into the blogging world. We have met some awesome dogs, and humans too!

If there were like a hierarchy of Airedales you would of course be the king! Hehehe!

Slurp!

Bogart, can you believe that the Kirby in the article is not me? There is another Airedale named Kirby in the Chicagoland area, and he's been to my blog to say Hi! Who would have thought. Mom and Dad thought they were 'so original' when they picked out my name, apparently not. So, it's not me, but his stories totally crack me up!

Kirby
