Willie Week

Feline Alert!

For all of those doggies freaked out by our feline cousins, you have been warned. There are CATS in today's post.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Sorry I haven't written in a few days... my week has been fun as always, but this furry tabby has kind of been the star for the past few days. But I'll get to that in a moment.

Firstly, I got a special delivery this week from Keeley!!!

Yup, the box smelled yummy so I was sure it was for meeeeeeeee!

Fantastic yummo yummo treats inside!!! THANKS KEELEY, mom couldn't catch any photos of me actually eating them because I scarfed 'em down super fast. They were DELICIOUS...

My kitty brother Behemoth. Guarding the succulents that dad cut from the park.

He did a thorough check to make sure that all was well because dad is going to bring them over to plant in Mareike's garden.

This is Willie. The long-haired orange tabby from earlier in this post.

Willie arrived at our house on Tuesday. His mama, who was a good friend of my mama and dad, passed away over the weekend. She knew how much we always loved both her and Willie, so he has come to live with us. So far he's really unsure about the whole thing (I know that he misses his mama a whole lot), and I don't think he's ever seen a dog before. Certainly not one as handsome as I. He's also not really sure about the other kitties yet. I'm trying to make him feel welcome (I do love all kitties, I just can't help myself), but he mostly hides under the bed and under my sofa. Oh, and he goes camping outside on the terrace in the Willie Tent (it's a blue cat tent from Ikea - I'm going to try to get a picture of him in it). We all want to make him feel welcome and to know that he's got a happy home now, any advice on things I can do to make him happy?

Love,

Bogart

G'day Bogie,
We're really sorry to hear about your mum & dad's friend. Willie is really lucky to have you guys. Hopefully he will settle down and learn to trust you all.
He is a lovely looking cat even though I would probably want to eat him if he was here......ooops.

Hi Bogart,

Wow Willie really is a good looking cat. I'm slowly warming up to cats. I like to see them, just not sure how much I'd like to live with one. I went to my Grandma to ask her advice as she's adopted many animals over the year, and she said to give Willie his space in the beginning as he needs to get used to his new surroundings. When he's ready, he'll immerse himself into your fine family, it just may take a bit of time. So, it sounds like you are all doing the right things. Keep us up to date on Willie and that very interesting sounding Willie Tent. I'm sure Willie will fall for you very soon. I don't think it's possible for anyone not to love you Bogart! Mom says to pass on that she is very sorry that your Mom and Dad lost such a good friend. Life can be so hard sometimes. Have fun with Willie and the rest of Bogie's feline crew!

Your pal,
Kirby

Bogart!
I missed you! Glad to hear that you have a new feline friend! However, I'm sorry that he came to you under poor circumstances.

I don't know much about kitties, however, I do know that you do not pounce on them! They hiss...apparently they don't like to bow and play like we do.

Good luck with your new friend...worry not, he will soon come around!

Willie will love you but he needs more time. How could someone resists you ?

We're sure sorry to hear about your mom's friend, Bogie! Willie is one handsome boy. I bet Faya is right - it just takes time.

Happy Easter to all of you!

Love ya lots,

Watch out for those succulents...I'm pretty sure they are Euphoria, and are toxic to animals and humans! I have one and keep it up real high so no animals can chew on it!
Have a wonderful Easter with your absolutely stunningly gorgeous dog!!! What a handsome feller!!!

Hey, Bogart!

I'm sorry to hear about Willie's mama. It sounds like Willie has landed in the right place, though. I'm sure he'll warm up once he has an idea that you are his new family and feels a little more comfy there.

Once he warms up to you, you could always do what I do for my Mervcat ~ I offer to give him a good ear cleaning, and he almost ALWAYS wants it. Once he experienced the wonders of the goober tongue, he now comes up to me and meows in my face, which of course is the signal for the beginning of his spa treatment. (Try one ear first, and if he likes it, he'll turn his other ear to you).

Ahh, Bogart. You truly are a friend to the downtrodden!

Goober love & smooches,
Stanley

So sorry to hear the sad news about your mum and dad's friend. I too am sure Willie will soon settle once he gets used to the changes in his life and realises none of you are a threat. Lots of love from one cat loving Dale to another.

I'm glad to hear that you liked the treats, Bogart. I showed my grandpa your post and he was pleased that so many doggies really liked them.

I love kitties too! For a long time my girl wouldn't ever let me meet any cats because she read a thing on the internet that said "Irish Terriers get a long great with other animals as long as the other animal is submissive or dead." She thought it would be recipe for disaster. But then when I switched to my holistic vet, the first time we walked through the door there were cats everywhere in the lobby. I ran over to inspect them right away. The first one hissed at me so I left it alone and went to check out another one. It was sleepy and didn't seem the least bit bothered by me sniffing it. That's when I knew that cats were cool.
Woof,
Keeley
