What a Difference a Day Makes...

WOW. Can you believe that just yesterday this was under almost a whole foot of snow?

Yep, this is where I take my morning walkies, and for the last week or so it's been kind of treacherous. Almost 2 feet of snow and ice was here - the last full snow was on Christmas day - until it started to rain yesterday. And rain, and rain, and rain...

I'm quite happy about it, although I will miss the snow. It was my first real snow so I shall always have fond memories of jumping in it and smooshing my face deep into a nice, frosty pile.

But the good thing is that now since the snow is gone, we can drive again! Yes, we were housebound for over a week, only able to get out to walk around a bit before we got cold and scared of falling on ice. So we decided to do a little walkie tour of Hawthorne Blvd. as we haven't been here in awhile... I paused to check on some of the last snow piles - some definite yellow-ness in there - just to make sure there weren't any overdue messages for me...

Nope, no messages. Onward ho!

Ah, the Portland Pet Supply. I always love this place, it smells so good inside. But alas, they are not open on Sundays, even for a special visit from me...

I even got my head all the way inside the bars to check - just to be sure - that they were indeed closed. Yup.

It's ok - there is still plenty to see, sniff, and poop on. I almost caught mama and dad off-guard, as they haven't been used to bringing poopie bags with them for awhile now... when I've gotta go, I've gotta go, poopie bag or not! Luckily there was still one in dad's pocket, so they were spared - this time.

This sign made mama giggle - and she thought that some of you doggies might have mama's that would giggle about this as well...

Ah, a nice long walkie accomplished, time to get back into the Bogcedes and head for home. A lot of the time when I ride in the back seat (I call it the Chairman's Quarters), I lay down and put my head up onto the back of either mama or dad's seat and rest like this. I find it relaxing and reassuring to have my nose right up against mama or dad's necks...

And I know that mama especially likes to feel some manly beard on her shoulder...

And some hot canine breath...

And of course, THE BUTTON

Merry Christm-aire-s

Mama and I decided to do something a little different this year - rather than opening all of our Christmas cards as they arrived, we thought it would be fun to open them all during the opening of the presents on Christmas morning - so we could ooh and aah over all of the cool cards that our DWB buddies sent to us from all over the world.

It was hard not to open the cards as they arrived, but mama was good about keeping them all in a nice pile while we waited for the 25th. And it was totally worth it - we thought about you all as we opened the envelopes and the emails!!!

The kitties could not control themselves, they were totally fascinated with all of the cards.

Orange tabbies in particular seem to have an unhealthy preoccupation with card destruction. Perhaps we should try to distract them?

This is WIllie - he is the kitty that came to live with us after his mama died. He's doing really well and is a part of our furry family now.

Check out this cool toy that I got - he is a rubber pig!!! - and most importantly, he SQUEAKS!!! I think I'm gonna name him Bacon...

Aw, and some good stuff to chomp on. I was originally far more interested in the package that held these wag'n wraps, and destroyed it promptly. I do think that Bacon and I will become best friends, however.

Hehehe - the Bogie Stogie

The kitties got something special too - a packet of Feline Greenies!!! And so, without further ado, I introduce the furry chorus:

Sekhmet, the black Siamese girlie...

Kafka, the orange shorthaired tabby boy...

Behemoth, the grey and white "spotto gato" boy...

Willie, the long haired orange tabby boy...

And Aeon, the brown tabby girl.

Merry Christmas everydog! Hope you all got LOTS of great presents - BIG AIRE KISSES to all of you and your families!!!

Love,

Bogart

Snowtairecular!

The snow has not only not stopped - it's dumping more and more onto my backyard! And making it difficult to go for my walkies - which cheeses me off. Mama said that now even the local buses aren't running, so we're kind of stranded here. Tell me that doesn't mean that you're just going to sit there mama...

As we just moved here not too long ago from Los Angeles, as you can imagine we weren't really prepared for the "Arctic Blast" (as it's being referred to on the TV news). Even tho we just heard that there hasn't been this much snow in Portland in over 40 years, that doesn't make it better. I'm definitely helping mama keep warm, but there isn't much I can do about the snow at this point - it's almost too deep for my legs now, and that is freaking me out. But we are missing a very important piece of equipment - the SNOW SHOVEL.

No money to go buy one, car not prepared for snow and no buses running. What's a boy to do?

That's right, dad and I decided to make one ourselves.

I know it looks like I'm just sitting there but in reality I'm helping - someone has to come up with the design and supervise the workers.

I've gotta be sure that dad is doing this right. It's totally makeshift - an old rake that he is attaching to a piece of an old sign. Prehistoric, eh?

Come on dad, get crackin'!

I need to go out for a little bit to at least do my business, and I'm not walking through that snow again...

Did you hear me? I'm not walking through belly deep snow again just to poop!

Good. Just checking.

Almost done...

Allrighty dad, nice work... I will sing your praises...

Stand up, proud snow warrior, and brandish your weapon!

The snow is really INSANE... this is my backyard...

There has to be over a foot of snow - in only a few days...

And IT'S STILL SNOWING

I'm working on my Snow Stache... hey, I smell a fun contest in there somewhere!

Look how pronounced my beard and stache are when fully covered in snow!

And how do I get such excellent snow stache satisfaction you ask? Never forget where the word TERRIER comes from...
