Happy Birthday to MEEEE

Ohmygosh, this is the best birthday EVER!!!

It started out with my favoritest breakfast - CAT FOOD. Trust me on this one. It's so much yummier than dog food, and I got a whole can of my own.

Mom brought out my cake -- not a big cake this year (after last year's "cake coma" where I consumed a huge bone-shaped cake, passed out from all of the goodness, then went over to my Dale friend's house and in true rock-star style immediately puked out all of the cake which my Dale friends happily then proceeded to eat... good times) just a "pup cake" with a special birthday candle. Mom and I made a wish then blew out the candle... gimme that pup cake. I'm more of a frosting kind of guy rather than an eat-the-whole-thing man so I finished off the frosting first. I'll have the rest of the cake part later (maybe).

Then it's on to the best part - THE PRESENTS!!! I got some packages in the last few days but mom wouldn't let me even sniff 'em, she wanted me to be surprised. Well boy was I ever...

Asta (up over) & her mom made me a SUPER NEATO card, isn't this adorable? Thanks so much Asta, this made me s-m-i-l-e....

I got the COOLEST card from my friends Maggie & Mitch - my mom LOVES this photo!!! It made her laugh so hard that iced tea came out of her nose (this seems to happen to her a LOT these days). Thanks guys, I love my Dale buddies!!!!

It was difficult to decide which present to open first as they all smelled soooooo good... my first present was from Butchy and Snickers - a great bundle of goodies and my VERY FIRST bully rings! Now I see what all the fuss is about guys, these are the BOMB. And a packet of Yummy Chummies which have wild Alaska Salmon in 'em, those look YUMMY. Thanks and big Aire Kisses to my WFT pals!!!!

Next was a parcel all the way from my buddies Charlie & Opy in Australia!!!! They sent me a stuffed toy that I can easily see will be my newest favoritest stuffy.

I also got a spanking new bone-shaped tag that says BOGART and on the back it says D.W.B. #1!!!!! THIS GOT ME ALL EXCITED!!! I don't know how many of my doggie pals know this, but I was the first doggie to join Dogs With Blogs a loooooong time ago and this is SUPER COOLARAMA - THANKS SO MUCH guys, I will wear this with GREAT PRIDE!!!

My final gift was from the prettiest Aire-girl in Europe - Faya!!! Her package came all the way from Switzerland! I got some YUMMY doggie sausages, a DELICIOUS bone, another new stuffy toy with a tennis ball attached (ah sweet Faya, you KNOW ME), and my VERY FIRST bandana!!!! I've always seen all of the other doggies wearing them but I've never had one of my own and now I can wear my Switzerland bandana with PRIDE!!!!! Sweet Faya thank you SOOOOOO MUCH, I'm gnawing on one of my sausages now as I type while wearing my new bandana!!!!

Whew it's been SO MUCH FUN and it's still early... I'm hoping for some burger action later today, then it would be PERFECTION!!!

I have two great new kitty friends - and they picked ME to be their new Not-of-my-species Special Friend!

I am TOTALLY excited, I'm a guy who LOVES MY KITTIES! I know that not all dogs like cats, and I am aware of the commonly-held belief that dogs and cats are enemies, but I do share my life with 4 of the little furry critters and I've gotta say that not only have they taught me a LOT (how to pull down the bag of treats so that Kafka - the orange tabby - can rip it open and we can all feast on cat treats) but they spend every day with me, sometimes we even sleep together.

Kung Fu Fighting

So the day started out kinda fun...

We went to Los Feliz to have some lunch at Fred 62 - the hipster hangout - and we got a nice table outside with some shade for me. I had a great view of the passing hipster parade, and was also in full view so that everyone could say how cute I am and give my head a pat. Mmm, good times.

Seems pretty good... and everything was until...

Last night I went over to Heidi's house to celebrate my Boxer Babe's birthday. I brought her one of my favorite bones wrapped in a red ribbon!

Heidi's mom made a lovely cake and all was well until...

Another big doggie came over named Diesel. Mom didn't realize he was coming in and well, lets just say that Diesel and I took an instant dislike to each other when we met in the living room. Yep, we had a little tussle. It actually wasn't that bad until he got a hold of my ear and bit hard. I yelped like a baby and ran over to mom.

She immediately took me home and tried to get the bleeding to stop, I had to wear this lovely contraption (thanks for the photos mom). It stopped bleeding after awhile but then again this morning on my morning walkie with dad I managed to open it again. So now I'm back to the towel-on-the-head thingie. But it's gonna be ok, I had a good sleep and I'm gonna go take a nap now.

I've got a nasty little hole in the bottom of my ear. Yes it might get me some street cred but damn, that hurt!

Zen Puppy

Ok, I was never meant to get these.

It's not that I don't deserve them - I can indeed Zen out - it's just that when mom first saw them in the supermarket they were 8 dollars for a box. A little pricey for a dog who doesn't like most dog food.

But tonight there was a breakthrough - she saw them in the 99cent store.

So rather than going gung-ho and buying lots of boxes, she cleverly bought one. The energy one. Since most likely I wouldn't like 'em.

Guess what? THEY'RE DELICIOUS! And I don't like many treats, much dog food, and even most human food. I gulped down a few without hesitation. So mom, what are you waiting for? Get back to the 99cent store and get me some MORE!!!

So if any premium dog food or treat companies want to run their new products past the most finicky dog in the universe, I'M YOUR MAN.

Staircase 101 for Mitch

I just read on my friend’s Maggie & Mitch’s blog that Mitch is having some difficulty in learning how to use the stairs. So I thought I’d help.

Personally I’d just be following Miss Maggie’s pretty butt up and down those stairs (all day long) but I hope this little tutorial helps ya buddy!

The Airedale Habit

Ah, Saturdays. For lunch today after mom got out of work we decided to head over to Glendale... at first I thought hey, that means a Rally Burger but no. Today it was The Habit so mom could have a veggie burger too...

No burger for me, dad must have been a hungry man. A few fries "fell" off the table from moms side, so I was happy to scoop those up.

Then we had another "Aire sighting" moment.. I of course LOVE it when folks know that I'm an Airedale (and not a muppet, a something-doodle, or a stuffed animal like most humans seem to think I am) and not only did these humans know I was an Airedale but they had had a Dale of their very own named Bear awhile ago.

We sat and told Aire-stories and then mom HAD to have us pose for some photos - this is me and my new friend Carrie, she's an excellent head-scratcher! Thanks for the petting, I hope you guys get a new Airedale of your own sometime soon!

(and I'd better get a burger next time...)

New Ear-cut

Mom has been going on for awhile now about my scraggly ears... ok, so maybe they're a teeny tiny bit scruffy and overgrown, but hey, I'm not really into anyone plucking out the hair on my delicate ears. So today mom got out the scissors and trimmed away all around the outline so that they're nice and triangle-shaped. I've still got lots of black in my ears which means I still get to be spoiled like a baby mom!!!

At first I was a bit embarrassed - my ears looked so short now! - so I didn't want to put my ears forward in the photos to show 'em off...

I was doing everything to thwart mom's efforts to take a nice photo of her handiwork.

Nice try mom! I laugh in the face of your pathetic attempt at ear-tography...

Even Behemoth the cat thinks it's a lost cause...
