The Eagle Has Landed

The last day of my daily walkie on Powell Butte. One of dad's favorite places in Portland, and where he and I walked every single day since we moved here. So sort of a Klaus Memorial Walkie as mama and I talked a lot about dad and how much we missed him.

I left a little message for ya there dad...

And I collected some pine cones to take with us...

And a nice juicy stick...

Because today was moving day. At exactly 9:00 in the morning (after said walkie), a big yellow truck pulled up in front of our house. Movers - on time? Amazing. And they were completely awesome - they helped mama, shrink-wrapped lots of our furniture, and even managed to keep me from wandering too far into the neighborhood to get in some final pee-mail. The company is called Thunder Movers, and mama was really, really happy with them.

Neither of the guys blinked an eye when they saw all of this:

I, however, had other fish to fry. I needed to make sure that in all of the fuss we did not forget to take some very important things with us...

Like this soccer ball. I found this back in Los Angeles in Griffith Park, and have enjoyed many fine kicking days in my back yard with dad. Even though I understand that the new place doesn't have a back yard, well that's no reason not to keep the soccer ball, is it?

IS IT MAMA?

As much as I enjoy being in charge and supervising, I did want to help. I offered to help mama take down the box filled with food and dog treats.

Only fair I thought, as the moving guys were dealing with this:

In the end, you'll be happy to know that our move went smoothly and we are now in our new place. And most importantly, the soccer ball made the cut.

Love,

Bogart

Wow, moving we have never done that. The folks would have to have a "garbage sale" first. Too much quality stuff here...
We can't believe your soccer ball still has aire(hint) in it. I deflate everything but Sally G, and I have tried that one.
But it is nice you set up in a new pad, a change is as good as a rest, Momma says.
Hugs to you and Lulu

Awe, Bogart.....
I sure missed seeing your sweet facey. I am sure your daddy was with you on your walkie and smiling all the way. Each year, on the same day, you should go back and I bet he leaves you lots more cones and a special stick just for you.
We love you all

Glad the move went well. For some reason this post moved me to tears again..I just think of how much your lives changed in so little time and so profoundly. I am sad for Bogart leaving his backyard and the place he walked with Klaus. I wonder what goes on in his head...
May you settle in well in your new digs, may you make new happy memories there and know that you are still in our thoughts and prayers.

Glad you're settled in Bogart. But after all the activity, make sure you give your Mom lots of love, because she surely will need it when the pace slows down! Glad the ball made the cut. You will have to find a place to play with it now. Exploring! That's always fun! You and your Mom are in our prayers daily.

Hi Bogart,

Moving/relocating is not fun at all. Well, we relocated from one country to the other. We had to unpacked and try to fit in into a different culture. You are doing very well. We hope you'll get to meet some nice doggies around your neighbourhood.

Lots of hugs to your mum,

Bogie, There is nothing quite as great as great movers. And me and mom have moved enough times to know. I don't have a yard either. It's been about three years since I've had a yard and sometimes it kind of sucks, but most of the time it's kind of nice, because it means lots of walks!

I hope you settle in well.

After every move—and there have been seven—Mommy swears she's never ever moving again. That's just how much she hates moving. I haven't had to move with her yet but Mica's been through two moves and he didn't like it one bit.

Phew - the soccer ball made the cut, just when it's almost reached perfect ripeness. I like mine even more beat up with less air so you can get a good grip and shake the bejesus outta it!

Welcome to your new home!

Hi Lulu and Bogart
You don't know me; however, through your blog I've come to know you both and your beloved Klaus. Lulu your posts are amazing and inspirational. I'm told writing things down in a time like this is beneficial... I don't know how you have managed other than just taking one moment at a time...you are a strong lady and Klaus would be proud of you. Take care of yourself and the dashing Bogart.

Hi Bogart... listen, mommy told me that years ago she had a 100 pound Airedale that lived with her in a Condo... it had a small enclosed porch, but NO back yard. Mommy said that he lived very well in the Condo for years.... and he had lots and lots of basket balls and soccer balls.... He had lots of fun playing at the park and on long walks.... Don't worry, you'll do just fine in your new home!!! We're pawing for both of you.
