Go Go Goaties Watch Them Go Go Go

Hey.... Goats!!! Goatie-Goatie-Goaties!!! Go-Go-Go-Go-Go-Go-Goats!!!

There they are!

And the horses too! We had some extra rice left over from a batch of gumbo that dad made... and it had formed into a sort of rice-cake. So we cut it up into wedges, and...

Both of the horses seemed to enjoy it, as did the nubian goats.

Or did they...?

On the way home, I felt the need for speed. Yes, I wanted to chase some sticks around. Come on dad, try me out!!!

Got that one!

Come on, come on, come on, THROW THAT STICK!!!

Ok, you've got it in your hand... which way are you going to throw it? Are you going to make me run uphill - again - or make it easy for me doing a nice downhill run?

I AM FOAMING WITH ANTICIPATION - THROW THAT STICK!!!

YESSSSSSSSSS!!! First to the left...

Then to the right...

It doesn't matter which way you throw it, I'M GONNA GET THAT STICK!!!

One more time?

Ohmydog, I am so freaking tired. Panting like a maniac. Drooling all over myself. Uh, I mean, THROW IT AGAIN!!!

Love,

Bogart

Did Someone Say Nachos?

Last night the power went out in our house - in our whole neighborhood actually - which was a little scary. It was SUPER windy, which must have disconnected something somewhere. Mama dad and I took a walk around our neighborhood to see if the whole thing was dark and it was... but the sky was gorgeous and you could see Venus and a whole bunch of stars really clearly. Or so she told me, I was just happy for a late-night walkie...

This morning the power was back on - whew! - but our street looked like this:

Stuff everywhere, lots of broken trees. But no matter, we had a job to do. Neither rain, nor snow, nor streets full of crap will stop me in my appointed rounds - to feed our about-to-be-thrown-out stuff to our goat buddies!

And yes, they LOVE it. Every single time. It never gets old to them (even tho it's old to us).

Today in addition to the usual carrots, onions, and potatoes, we cleared out the pantry a bit. Some cereal that had gone a bit stale, and then the piece de resistance... NACHO CHIPS

The goats went WACKO for the nachos... And I understand.

They were ready to jump over the fence to get more of those yumm-o chip-os.

Even the black and white one - who is normally really shy - got into the action.

Mmm... NACHOS...

Then the large horse came over for some. She got the lions share of the carrots.

OH YEAH...

No need to waste any of those bad boys... those goats had no problem sticking their entire heads inside the bag just to be sure that nothing was wasted.

Ah my friends, I SALUTE YOU

On the way home I found this sweet basketball - and it's not even deflated!

I'm taking this baby home to shoot some hoops in my backyard :)

Fun With Goats

What is one to do when you have a pocket full of carrots and kohlrabi that just isn't going to make it into tomorrow's stew or salad? Why, you feed it to your local nubian goats, of course!

After giving them my special "goat call", they slowly came outside.

Today two were brave, two less so.

With some trepidation, the two brave goats approached us when they noticed not only my familiar voice but also the carrot in dad's hand.

Mmm. Goodness.

We are all endlessly fascinated by these goats (the horses were also outside, but in a different part of the yard)...

Fascinated, and of course, semi-scared out of my mind. Especially when we get this close...

With no grains from the Black and Tan brewery to drop off today, I do think that our goat-y pals enjoyed the pocketfull of carrots.

And I get one sniff closer to understanding them.

Love,
