Fortune Cookie Wisdom

It has now been one month since Klaus left us. A month that some days feels like hours, and other days feels like years. And in our darkest times, we also had to move from our big house to a small space. I could never have imagined that our lives would change so drastically - we were all just getting used to our move from Los Angeles to Portland, and then this. Klaus was such a huge part of our lives, and he spent literally almost all of his time with his fuzzy son, Bogart, who may miss him more than any of us.

Our lives now revolve around boxes - boxes in storage and boxes here in our apartment - that need to be dealt with. Some days we've been very successful in opening and emptying, other days it's more about pushing around and rearranging. And of course boxes of takeout food. Today's choice was Chinese food. Tofu and veggies. Some for me, and...

Hey Bogart - give me that fortune!

Quickly snatched from the mighty scissor bite of a hungry Airedale:

Thank you oh great fortune cookie - we're trying.

Love,

Bogart & Lulu

Hi Lulu & Bogie!
What a nice fortune you received. It must be hard to focus on all that moving stuff when your life has changed so much. We know you're both doing the best you can!
And please do keep your chins up!

Wow.That was a good fortune. Just keep shuffling those boxes around and in time they'll get emptied. Bogart seems to be a good helper.

I often wonder what is going through Bogarts mind. Dogs don't know why someone isn't there anymore. I wish there was a way we could explain it to them.
Big hugs to you both.

A message from Klaus in a fortune cookie. Sounds reasonable to me.

Yesterday I got a message too. I had to have my little girl schnazuer put down on March 16 and it tore me up. While driving home yesterday I heard the song that my late husband plays for me to get my attention. It is not something the stations play very often: Brown Eyed Girl. I immediately got a razor sharp mental picture of Jay holding Gretchen and both of them waving and smiling at me.

Little "coincidences" are not really coincidences at all. Our loved are still with us. We just need to learn to slow down and pay attention.

Like Klaus says, chin up. You're doing great.

You don't have to get everything done right away. And Klaus is right there, whenever you need him you can talk to him. Or us. We'll all listen. Time does heal...but it feels like forever sometimes. You've come a long way for only one month! Be proud of what you've accomplished and don't worry about the small stuff.

Oh Lulu & Bogart:

Klaus is a very clever man - cute of him to send you guys a message in the fortune cookie....

Time is hard some days - too much or too little - too much time to think - too much time to remember - don't know how I was able to get places some days - proof I was there don't remember traffic or signals or driving....

Boxes - when your ready or have had enough the boxes will disappear until then who cares -

We love you guys.....

Bogart!

Nice of your local Chinese restaurant to be in cahoots with your dad. Sometimes those fortunes are VERY poignant. Other times... my girl got one once that said, "You like Chinese food!" DUH. NOthing like a cheesey fortune cookie... which yours is NOT!

Goober love & smooches,
Stanley
