Something Old, Something New

Everywhere we go in our new city, I manage to find the dog store. Mama is impressed with my mad skills. We don't always get to go inside, but at least I can do my sniffing and look at all the stuff through the window.

This lion is apparently trying to sell me wine. I didn't know that lions drink wine, nor that they are apparently aficionados and prefer Pinot Noir.

I tried to talk to him about it, but as I'm not terribly schooled in wine culture, I figured it might be best to just keep moving.

Dad would have laughed at this - and I can hear him saying "What the f*%& is an Austrian lamp?"...

But it's a real store here in Philadelphia - a very cool old-looking place.

Yesterday my newest friend Andi was visiting me and mama, and we walked all over town. I even spent some time alone with him walking (I know, right? ME! Who won't let anyone else take my leash except for mama!) and had lots of fun. Mama was having fun too and forgot to take photos, so we retraced some of our steps in Old City.

More signs. Geez, mama.

I guess if you're looking for bar stools, then Mr. Bar Stool is the way to go. I wanted to make a poop joke here, but mama gave me "that look" so you can just insert your own.

Very cool tools - some for shipbuilding!

And mama's newest favorite sign in Philadelphia.

She says that if only she'd known - as a young goth girl - that there was actual moping equipment, she certainly would have gotten some (in black, of course). She doesn't recall having too many mops in her life at that point...

This Cool... Cat!

Wanted to kick my butt from behind glass. He stalked me as I walked by and as I have had many run-ins with the kitties that share my home I have learned - BEWARE THOSE EVIL PAWS.

A place that we must visit sometime - Belgian Frites! Mama and I can always share...

I think I remember seeing these somewhere else, but with cat heads. I'm not sure what these are/were supposed to be. Turnip heads?

PAWSing for Greenfest

Well, this wasn't here yesterday... some Saturday night revelers must have found this amusing...

Smiley face!

The bright blue garage door was going to be perfect as a backdrop for a modeling shot. If I would just look at the camera.

But I turned on the cuteness instead. And then got really, really bored. So I decided it was time to move on.

Aw geez, more modeling. Well come on mama, lets get this over with.

Ready? I'll give you the ears forward, eyebrows up, direct eye contact, and a little tongue. READY?

Today was a festival called Greenfest down on South Street. Oddly, it is the first day that it's rained here in awhile. You would think the Green-ies would like the rain and all, with all of the goodness it brings. But no. Many people were complaining, and a lot of them looked bored in their little tents. I was uninspired.

Until I saw this tent:

It was for PAWS, the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society! Not only did they have several tasty bowls of water from which to choose, but they were nice, friendly, and love the Dales. We were very happy to stop and have an extended chat with the lovely ladies here. So if anyone in the Philly area is looking for a new best friend, may I suggest stopping by N. 2nd and Arch street... they were AWESOME!

Rockin the PEZ

Just another crazy Friday night at the Bogart Handsome Devil household...

On tonight's menu is a giant bowl of chicken soup for me, chocolate PEZ for mama (she splurged on a big box because apparently it's not that easy to find chocolate PEZ), and a fine Netflix selection of Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. I like the dirty part, mama likes the Mike Rowe part. Win-win!

What's in a Sign?

Well, cock a doodle do...

A fantastic sign, but I can't see any business that it's crowing for.

But it's darned cool.

This has been bothering me for some time. Every day I spend time in the Washington Square park, and every day I pee near this:

Sounds cool, right? Except that the "tree" is really just a giant stick and looks like this:

I would LOVE to get my chompers around that sometime when no one is looking.

Exploring Old Town

What's a boy and his mama to do on Labor Day... the sun is shining, the humidity is low, it's time to explore more of this fine city that we have blindly moved to. We haven't really explored the Old City area, so...

This is the National Constitution Center. GO CONSTITUTION!!! I use the opportunity to work on my very own constitution, eating some lovely grass to settle my tummy.

Ben Franklin's last resting place. I'm discovering that it's hard to not find great historical things around these parts, Philadelphia is chock-full of history.

I went in for a better look. Pushed the tourists away, actually. Had to pay my respects.

Liked this A LOT. Smelled AWESOME.

Everywhere we go, mama finds something interesting to take a photo of.

This photo looks funny but it's actually pretty accurate - most of the windows on this building had bright red coverings - it caught our eye.

But onto more important things. Exploring. Lots of galleries and cute little shops in this area. But because it's Labor Day almost all of them are closed. Silly people. Don't they know that I'm here?

Now THIS is what I call art.

So much to see, so much to do. Everything is new and exciting and smells great. I really like this exploring thing.

Except for when I want to take a little rest. It's not really that hot outside, but we've been walking for awhile. I think I'll just lay here for a minute or two mama, come join me, will you?

After a short rest stop, it's back on the road heading for home and some yummy treats and an open toilet. This boy is thirsty!

This little fella is either giving us the thumbs up or a double bird. You decide!

What a Week it Was

Darned hot is what it was. Made us tired, put us in an un-post-ing kind of mood.

Some things start out with a bang (in the car vs. bus scenario, THE BUS ALWAYS WINS):

So, during the past week we did a lot of this:

A good amount of this:

Only slightly humiliating bits of this:

With the occasional splash of this:

Those few odd times filled with this:

Look out little guy!

Hanging in there baby - yep, there was plenty of this:

Getting up close and personal with my new city like this:

Ending up in the salad days - like this. Not a bad week, just busy. We've missed you!
