Northwest Culinary Explorations

Klaus... this is for you. A little inside joke. Remember for the last two years when I was sugar-free and all I talked about having was a pain au chocolat? Well, the first bite is for you darling, I just wish you were sitting across from me and stealing that bite yourself.

Dad, I approve. I brought her here this morning to St. Honore Cafe because she hasn't been eating food that makes her happy lately. And I know that we all used to come here - and it always made us all happy.

And in more important news... I HAVE FOUND WHERE THEY KEEP THE CONES HERE.

Since we moved to our new apartment, I have not been able to find any damn pine cones. Little prickly balls of spiky fury, yes. I have found those. But those are not pine cones and those hurt when I crunch on them. These are perfect - a great size for getting 5 or 6 in a mighty Dale mouth (the better to keep them from mama and drop them in the street while we are frantically crossing - fun!).

Yes dogs of the Pacific Northwest, come to Couch Park! I have seen the pine-cone-shaped light!

Love,

Bogart & Lulu

  9. Pine cones? Is that an Aire-thing? We're afraid they'd prick our tongues. Guess we'll have to try it to find out, cuz we see 'em on our walks. Now pain au anything... we're SURE we'd like that.

We're hungry now. Time to get up.

  10. I am glad you have both found something you like to snack on!! Although, your Mom's stuff looks better to me, I don't think those pine cones would even fit in my mouth.

  13. Oh Boggie,
Sally and I are very busy trimming the bushes(15 years young) and then there's the trees...Momma says I'm part beaver. I haven't tried cones but I will. Sally is hunting birds and Papa has given us both yeck cause we got Meese under the deck and being terriers we're suppose ta take care of vermine...
Now we think we all got rights about choices and he does like the peanut butter traps so go at it Dad. (Darn I licked on last night and brother that was wicked.)
Good work taken Momma out for a snack, you are doing a fine job of taking care of the pack.

  21. Bogart!

I knew your internal cone tracker would come through for you. Are you singing the praises of Oregon pinecones in that last photo? Hmmm?

Glad you and your mama got a chance to revisit an old haunt, and that your mama could enjoy some good pastry. It's never a bad time for pastry if you ask me.

    Goober love,
    Stanley
